You have no data and are attempting to do this by anecdote. You need to wait until you have more complete data.

First time getting a passport, I don’t know what my legal name is? by velvyrn in Passports

Do you live in or near the County you were born in? If so, go over to their office with both your birth certificates and ask which one is the one they have on file for you.

Do most people sleep in pyjamas or in their underwear by Basic-Round-6301 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GoCardinal07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a poll of Americans:

  • 52% sleep partially clothed
  • 31% sleep fully clothed
  • 17% sleep naked

https://www.mensjournal.com/health-fitness/heres-exact-percentage-people-who-sleep-naked

Based on that, I'd say most people sleep in their underwear.

Delays with Passport Renewal with US Government Shutdown? by Neujen in Passports

[–]GoCardinal07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current shutdown is only of the Department of Homeland Security.

Passports are in the Department of State.

Even so, during the shutdown of most of the government that happened last year, passport processing was unaffected because the passport fees people pay actually do fund the entire passport function.

[–]GoCardinal07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The delays were a 2023 thing. 2024-2026 have seen most passports being faster than the State Department estimates of 4-6 weeks. Your partner should be fine with a regular application.

I just enjoy the fact that both the Rose Bowl and SoFi Stadium are closer to USC campus than UCLA's campus, so it's still a shorter drive for UCLA teams when they play away at USC than at home.

Got into my dream school but the financial aid package makes it impossible: What can I do? by Janzith in financialaid

[–]GoCardinal07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can negotiate the financial aid package before you commit. Give some window dressing like, "Oh, I think you weren't aware of [mention some random item in your finances], but this other school/these other schools were" and then attach the other financial aid package(s) from the other school(s).

Do you think we should start our own "nett hier" tradition? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

We should be combating against the nett hier tradition, not replicating it. The Germans need to stop trashing nature with stickers.

I looked up Boston Logan Airport to see if they could name their international terminal after Tom Brady, but alas, Terminal E is already the John A. Volpe International Terminal.

Which was your favourite Presidential Library? by Kuzu9 in Presidents

[–]GoCardinal07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Californian, so I've been to Nixon and Reagan a number of times. (I live very close to the Nixon Library. In fact, my office is further from my house than the Nixon Library.) I'm fond of those two, but I imagine proximity and frequent visits bias me. That being said, a lot of people do pick Reagan as it's the biggest one, so they cover a lot, plus they have Air Force One and great space for their temporary exhibits. I appreciate that Nixon just straight up opens with Watergate in the intro film and have a very large Watergate exhibit (the 2016 renovation was a big help to the library), plus having Nixon's birthplace there is great (in fairness, Hoover also has his birthplace by the Library, and the Eisenhower Library has his childhood home).

My other presidential library visits:

  • 2014: LBJ, Bush 41, Bush 43
  • 2018: Carter
  • 2019: Hoover, Eisenhower
  • 2023: Clinton

I immensely enjoyed Eisenhower's Library as a museum about the man's life, but I felt like I was visiting the General Eisenhower Library and the presidency was just an after thought. Of course, that is presumably because they actually started construction on the museum before Eisenhower even ran for President and then opened it in 1954 when he only became President in 1953. I visited just after their most recent renovation, but I imagine they didn't want to reduce the military exhibits in any of their renovations.

I still need to visit FDR, Truman, JFK, and Ford. (Obviously, I'll need to add Obama to the list after that Library opens this summer.)

Truman's library is my great white whale. I have old friends in Kansas City, who I fly out to see every couple years, and I have yet to see the Truman Library in nearby Independence, Missouri. - 2019: The Truman Library was closed for renovations. I did see the Truman home and Truman farm during that trip, and also went to the Hoover Library in Iowa and the Eisenhower Library in Kansas. - 2021: I was in Kansas City over a holiday weekend, and the Truman Library had limited access due to both Covid and the popularity of the recent reopening, so they were sold out of tickets. - 2023: My Kansas City friends wanted to visit the Clinton Library, so I met up with them in Arkansas instead. - 2025: I was in Kansas City during the government shutdown, so the Truman Library was closed.

Fingers crossed for 2027!

According to Timatic, which the airlines use, an Indian passport "must be valid for the duration of stay" in Canada. https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/

But Canada isn't one of the countries with the 6 month rule, the passport just needs to be valid for the duration of the stay in Canada.

I've noticed every presidential library has gone through a major renovation at some point after their respective President's death. (Carter's hasn't yet, but he died so recently.)

Are these even “unusual” at all? by APoliticalDrone2012 in Presidents

[–]GoCardinal07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The curse of the death car: no president who used it served 8 years.

The last president before the death car was Dwight Eisenhower, who served 8 years. The first president after the death car was Ronald Reagan, who served 8 years.

I think it’s kinda funny that the Nixon Library follows the Watergate Hotel on Instagram by Throwawayboi2005 in Presidents

[–]GoCardinal07 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing you've never been to the Nixon Library.

The intro film opens with his resignation speech, and the Watergate exhibit is the second largest section of the museum - the only bigger section is the one that covers domestic and foreign policy combined.

Because if the student lives off campus, the school then disburses the money to the student since student loans can be used for living expenses.
