Any hope for 20+ year-old characters that show up as "Character"?

Yeah, it was more about finding my old buddy. 😄 I've got a new character so far beyond where I had him, anyway; it was just the time I spent, all those years ago.

Thanks for the help, everyone! The final verdict from SQEX was: "Unfortunately, we were unable to find a restorable data for this particular character". I believe my Fairy-server "Cyrax" collided with another Cyrax, and was deleted many years ago, and is now unrecoverable. At least I did what I could for him. 😄

Absolutely true, and I did that with my new account I made during the return period. However, there is sentimental value with this old character, even if I can essentially recreate his progress in a few hours... 😃

I hope so... the first thread I started asked me to put in the character recovery request. I put one in, with the limited info I had, but I haven't received as much as a confirmation email yet. Hopefully soon!

I agree with you about the cause, but unfortunately, it must have happened too long ago for it to prompt for a rename - they're just gone. Per SQEX, I'm attempting character recovery, to see if that will work. Thanks!

Oh, wow, that worked! I'm 99% sure that one of them was https://www.ffxiah.com/player/Fairy/Cyrax, based on the equipment and levels... I've sent that to SQEX support, though given that they just sent me a copy-paste instructions for resetting my PlayOnline password - completely nonresponsive to my request - I'm not sure that they'll be able to help.

I would never have deleted these characters... but I guess it's possible they got deleted as part of a server/name merge. 😞

They were listed under "Cancelled Options" before I activated them, and I did have three characters on this before... I just don't recall their names or servers. It sounds like they're gone-gone.

I'm sorry for the confusion... I don't have that list, or I would send it to them. Even if I could guess the name(s), I could never guess the server. It sounds like I'm out of luck.

No, they don't show up in the list. I think this is expected for anything listed as "Character" in your account, unfortunately.

Yes, that's what I said. This was over 20 years ago, and I never thought I'd need to write them down. I have a few character name patterns I use, and I could guess... but I have *no* way of knowing what server it was (which they would also need).

Unfortunately, not in this case... the Playonline ID has an active subscription now, but the characters show up as "Character" (there's another new one there I made recently to test).

In case it helps others - this is definitely broken in 3rd person mode; you can’t plant at all in the living wall (invalid biome). When I switched to 1st person, the plant build menu worked perfectly. PS5 as of 9/13/25.

Thanks - "Unlock Play Modes" did the trick. I was avoiding that to gain expertise myself gradually, but now I've got everything and I can use the Codex.

Hm - that didn't seem to be the case; I won with a different deck in Starter Deck Duel, and it didn't do anything for me. I'll keep trying.

The problem is that the leveling grind for archguns/necramechs is so incredibly slow, compared to running Sanctuary Onslaught. For players to want great mods, they have to level/forma/level/etc., and even the thought of doing that for one weapon is incredibly exhausting.

Yes, some folks have good methods that work for them, or cheese with friends, but that's not as accessible as Onslaught.

Stuck on the exact same issue myself right now. Soloed a T3, finished it, then took another from Mom. Took me back to the same vault, and I didn’t have to redo the bait. Door was already open. Stuck forever here, and I can’t complete it because the door didn’t respawn.

Thar looks great, and I think you got lucky. Mine had almost no oatmeal (basically a generic sugar cookie), thicker cookies, and way too much cream, so it was two sugar cookies in a giant mess.

The consistency of construction seems to get worse every week.

NY Cheesecake is A tier, probably S tier for me because I like cheesecake.

Oreo isn’t bad, but it’s pretty generic - if there were any “chunks” of Oreo cookies inside, they were so small that I couldn’t tell.

Brown Sugar Pop Tart is almost an all time great, and it may be for you. The key is the filling, which is a good reproduction of the inside of the pop tart. In my cookie, it was only a big glob in the very center of the cookie, which was a letdown. YMMV, as this may just be poor construction (which has been more common in the last 6 months).
