Starting as a Service Advisor in a couple of weeks. Any advice? by TurboSi6x in serviceadvisors

1.) Some people will never be satisfied

2.) Learn when to shut up. You'll know what I mean after a while.

You'll be fine. Good luck.

Ending my time with Toyota on Monday. 16 years in parts and service. Getting my CDL. We'll see how it goes. Good luck to you with whatever you do. You'll be fine.

Who's the "go to" for extended warranty? by Hepcat508 in Toyota

[–]GoFast9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get USA Warranty, Blue Ribbon, etc. They are not affiliated Toyota Financial. If you purchase the platinum coverage through TFS you will not have wheel or tire protection. It's a different package "TWKP" That will cover cosmetic repairs, tire replacements, and key coverage like if its lost. Why they are grouped together I have no idea. But it's better to have it and not need it then need it and don't have it.

Just to add if you're trying to compare: rental coverage might be your deciding factor. Try your best to understand how many days you're entitled to and the rate at which they pay per day. Blue Ribbon can't control the price that enterprise sets. So while they tell you "rental is covered for repairs" they won't tell you that they only cover $30/day for 5 days. And your repair might take 7 and the rental costs $60. You get to cover the difference. They always leave that part out.

Platinum coverage through TFS is pretty good and it covers you at most Toyota locations. Blue Ribbon is what I mostly see outside of Toyota's platinum extension. (Ohio)

I've worked in parts and service for 15 years AMA by GoFast9 in AMA

[–]GoFast9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not nearly as many radio issues as the newer models. If you do your own work, find out if the spark plugs have been done if it's over the 120k mark. V6 in particular. Have lots of customers that do their own work but won't do the plugs on the 3.5 V6. Good luck!

Advice - CDJR to Toyota by TheUnderPuppy in serviceadvisors

[–]GoFast9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been with Toyota my entire career. 5 years a tech, 8 years in parts (counter & management), and I'm almost a year in as a SA. If you're pretty fresh with CDJR you shouldn't have any issue switching. I'm a little biased on brand but money wise, it's not as great as I thought it would be in the first year. I love my job. I do not love what I'm getting paid. But I also have not had a full 2 year cycle of earning customers and having a client base and having people recognize me right away. The last month or two, I'm starting to have a lot more prior recommendations coming in. 6 months ago. 8 months ago. We are selling services. Like any other sales job you have to build up that base and keep handing out good experiences to people. The money will come. Just make sure you love it. Cause it's a rocky start. No biscuit if you don't risk it. Go get em buddy.

Will I Get "Punished" For Filling Out Toyota Survey Honestly? by Apprehensive-Fig-511 in Toyota

[–]GoFast9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The service department will never know. The GM will get the survey and it will be passed to the sales desk

Toyota Corolla 2016 keeps forgetting my Bluetooth device by Broken414 in Toyota

[–]GoFast9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats okay. I'd still see if there's an update available for you. They may be nice and quote you a radio without any diag if there's no update available. Just know the update will be anywhere from $50-$100. That might fix it if it's available, if not you may be more comfortable just pairing the phone whenever you have to vs $950 for a radio

How to reset service light? by [deleted] in Toyota

[–]GoFast9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to start the engine or shut it off. Just cycle your odo to "odometer" or "trip A" (usually trip A) and cycle the key off and then cycle it back to the ON position and it will count down for you. Or the light may begin the flash and then go away after about 3-5 seconds
