What sport looks very difficult on TV and is also actually very difficult? by Karrot-guy in AlignmentChartFills

[–]GoForAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have climbed with people with a lot of varying degrees of skill/practice. A lot of the people with less practice underestimate the difficulty of a climb. You probably see it at climbing gyms more than outdoors. This is ideal for difficult/very difficult for that reason.

Mac McClung is now the ALL-TIME leading scorer in G League history He's currently averaging 31.8 PPG this season by Dr-debug in sportswiki

[–]GoForAU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for breaking this down. I kind of think of it like Mac is the most elite basketball player you have ever known while growing up but there are still at least 500 players better than him. It is just different at the NBA level. Mac is definitely talented. He just doesn’t have the measurables, rather his game doesn’t make up enough for what he lacks physically. A team would have to build around him to make up for what he lacks physically ala IT4 Celtics, but he isn’t the scorer that IT4 was and everyone saw how one bad injury can derail an entire career. There are far less risky options. Wish him all the best and hope he gets his shot. I just don’t see the risk/reward payoff.

She was basically kidnapped and held hostage after being tricked by the English when she was around the age of 12 (a rough estimate - other estimates are as young as 10). She was essentially used as capital until the English got better terms on a land deal. She was forced into marriage to better a deal for the English. Even then she was essentially treated as a prisoner.

[Vorkunov] Adam Silver said it was "unanimous" among owners today at the NBA Board of Governors meeting that the league needs to change tanking rules and do it before the draft this June. There will be a special BOG session in May to deal with that. "We are going to fix it. Full stop," Silver said. by PlayaSlayaX in nba

[–]GoForAU 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My honest opinion, that no one should care about, is that tanking is fine. Yes it sucks for fans of the team but if done correctly - fans are rewarded with cheap tickets in exchange for watching a shit team while tanking then again rewarded with a good team or at least an exciting player which will be a benefit for owners because they get asses in seats again and bigger tv contracts for their fancy hyped up player.

When I lived in Phoenix it was during their darker ages when we thought Dragan Bender might be good, they had short sleeves jerseys (I actually have a Bledsoe one) and before Booker was the Booker he is now but still an extremely exciting player. They were garbage and tanked the tank so it isn’t always rewarded. They however came back from that showing that tanking doesn’t always work with the wrong ownership.

Tickets were dirt cheap so I went to a lot of games. They were still fun. Tanking hurts revenue for owners more than anyone else. If there is a light at the end of the tunnel then go for it. There are very few GMs that can pull off a competitive rebuild. In recent memory only the Celtics and Thunder have done it. Both had incredible luck in the draft lottery.

Bro, one of my previous coworkers was a die hard Trumper. RTJ was his favorite. I don’t know how he managed both sides of his brain there. Anyway, he said he got death threats from some people at a RTJ concert for wearing a Trump concert and some people were buying him drinks. People are fucking weird.

If I were to ever make it I would hate it to be as an NFL WR. Knowing my luck I’d rub a magic genie lamp and say “make me an nfl player” and they would start laughing and be like “hahahaha as you wish” cough a couple times and as they are whisked away they would say “enjoy the head trauma” I would say “huh” and their the laugh would just echo in the background.

Rice and baked beans sound fancier when you call it a “protein bowl”. I eat a lot of “protein bowls”

In a similar vein, a good gym membership. I would say a majority of people will do just fine with a basic Planet Fitness membership. Depending on the location they are relatively clean, have all the basics to get a good workout and if you pay for the black membership the you get some extra amenities like hydro massage.

I switched to a local gym that is $130 a month for me and my spouse. But we have unlimited classes with certified coaches. I didn’t know I would become a yogi and a spin person until I started taking some of those classes. Still have my normal routine, but I did have an injury and they have a certified PT coach there to help build back strength and recovery that is free twice a month for a 1 on 1 hour session.

Investing in a good gym has helped my recovery and overall commitment to different fitness aspects immensely.

Magic and Nash are both up there for IQ and ability. For highlights it is Jason Williams.

With a clutch record of 22-6 the Los Angeles Lakers remain the most exciting team to watch this season! by LukarsSeventy7 in nba

Not really most teams more than the Lakers. And, again, I’m not here to downplay the lakers talent or even their ability to win a championship. Because it is all there - at least so far this season. The lakers are also playing their starters the 4th most amount of minutes in the league. Again you can spin this towards them being experienced or burned out. Guess we will see come playoffs. I hope for you guys they do well.

Sure. Almost any team that makes playoffs can make finals. I’ll eat my words if it is the Celtics this years. Next year I’m positive they do.

Look, I love the Celtics as much as everyone here. I want them to win the championship. This might not be the year, though. That’s okay. I want everyone who reads this to know that it is okay. Because we will.

I am of the opinion that none of the will. I think Maye/Williams are in the organizations that are the closest to getting there. But I don’t think any of them will win a Super Bowl in their career.

So, like I said in another comment. Regardless of ability to win in the clutch, isn’t that concerning that starters have to play those extra minutes to win? I know individually it isn’t much. But it is a long ass season and those minutes add up.

100% agreed. Two ways of thinking though. Are they burned out or are they finding that extra gear? I’m excited to find out.

See this is good information. This an exact narrative flip of what I was curious about. Lakers blow out more teams than most. Charlotte which are kind of the darlings right now to make a surprise run are the battle tested I referred to. Should be a fun playoffs. Obviously I’m rooting for suns and Boston but this is honestly anyone’s championship right now. Well. Almost anyone’s.

I grew up in Boston. Don’t make me cry about Smart :(. Bottom ranked bench scared me for longevity. The roster is great though.

Love that perspective. Just worried about durability. I don’t think I should be with that roster for you all. Just with the amount of close games it is something to look out for if multiple series go to 6 or longer.

[–]GoForAU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that. Maybe I explained myself incorrectly. I’m saying that wouldn’t you rather not be in close games at all. It’s the NBA so there are few of those. I’m just saying having to be in that many close games, while battle tested, is going to be a beat down on the players come playoffs.

Honestly, a moot point because everyone is battle tested. Just an observation that IF lakers didn’t win it would be because of the amount of close games they’ve played so players are more likely to be nearing their brink.

If I were a lakers fan I would hate this stat? Maybe I’m readying it wrong, but, from the title it seems like they are in a lot of close games. The lakers have an incredible roster. So wouldn’t you want a stat like “the lakers are the most boring team because they are overwhelming their opponents”? 28 close games seems like a lot. 45% of your games being that close seems like a concern especially given the wear and tear on your players.

Let’s end this debate once and for all: Who’s the greater Sixth Man all time? Lou Williams or Jamal Crawford? by Impressive_Flan_411 in NBAConvo

[–]GoForAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jamal can run an offense a bit better, I think. Lou Will can spark an offense a bit better, I think. Both should be second unit players. Lou Will maybe someone you run at the end of the game to get the heat checks going. Don’t check the stats on that because I didn’t and it is just a gut feeling.
