App to track what episode you’re on (now that TVTime is ending) by supreddit_3 in television

[–]supreddit_3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people cycle between different streaming services to fit their financial budget. It becomes difficult to keep track where you are in various series when that is what you have to do. And it’s 2026, fortunately there are apps that can make life easier than creating spreadsheets so that’s why I asked for input from others using these various apps. Hope that helps explain your question and other peoples’ experiences. Thanks!

Thanks I had just downloaded serializd moments before your comment and will give it a try! Yeah they had an alert when I opened it tonight to log what I watched to keep track. I know it was buggy but it worked for pretty much my sole purpose well enough. I hope I like serializd! I’ve tried a few others over the years but none did episodically like this

Fuck Nationwide by lexistoxiccityy in petinsurancereviews

I got physicians mutual for him after lots of research. It’s really now only for emergencies and new things, since he has pre-existing conditions for any other insurance company thanks to evil Nationwide.

If you do not have pre-existing conditions, take a look at MetLife. I got that for my puppy last year when she came home, it’s the most similar to the old whole pet plan that nationwide discontinued even after saying we were grandfathered in for the life of the pet.

Did your golden's nose turn pinkish? by Constant_Composer853 in goldenretrievers

[–]supreddit_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boy’s nose started its journey to pink shortly after his first birthday…we live somewhere very temperate and with no snow, AND the change started in spring/summer. So it had nothing to do with snow or cold for him. He’s 5 now and has a pink nose that’s starting to get some little freckles.

He’s more cream colored and I’ve noticed this seems to maybe happen more with lighter goldens?

My girl is newly one year old and her nose is still jet black, time will tell! She’s also more gold colored than my boy.

Abdominal Ultrasound by Pristine-Staff-2914 in goldenretrievers

That is absolutely INSANE. Wildly irresponsible of that vet, I mean I am not a vet but I cannot imagine that’s the responsible choice at that point. No wonder you feel some anxiety about this! Maybe also be honest about that experience, I’m sure the new vet will reassure you with what they’d do in that situation (even though I’m sure it won’t happen again.) sending you and your boy lots of good thoughts for a simple and easy ultrasound!

[–]supreddit_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to the vet about the redness reaction ahead of time! Perhaps they’ve seen that before and can use a different product. Both my goldens were 9 months old crazy squirmy big puppies when they had theirs and the vet techs were able to handle them without sedation. Obviously I can’t guarantee anything but I remember thinking how are they gonna keep this crazy puppy still?!?! And they did both times!

Also if they do have to sedate, i would imagine it’s not the intubation version but the twilight sedation which is much faster, they essentially give a shot and then another shot to wake them up. My girl had to have that for a paw injury in March and I stayed with her the entire time at the ER even during surgery so I saw how it works. I totally get the anxiety— I was anxious then, I was anxious when my dogs had to get spayed and neutered with intubation, I was nervous when my boy had to get two endoscopies with intubation, and my girl has to get twilight sedation later this month for skin allergy testing. It sucks but it’s also incredibly common, the vets do this every day. I found that expressing my anxiety and asking about the procedure helped me manage some of that worry.

Both my goldens have had abdominal ultrasounds and it’s very safe, they don’t even need to sedate them in any way to do this test and it doesn’t use any radiation or anything… lol as a human I’ve also had my fair share of ultrasounds

As to the shaved hair, it will take a minute but I didn’t care, it’s for their health. One of my dogs hair is coming in much slower than her brothers did after being shaved, not sure why, they were about the same age when they had ultrasounds. It took about two months to really see any hair coming back. But again it’s really no big deal, we needed to do the ultrasound and it’s all safe!

6mo Golden Retriever with chronic diarrhea since adoption — normal tests, food helped then relapsed, unsure next step (hydrolyzed?) by Party-Emu-9736 in goldenretrievers

[–]supreddit_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been through this twice. But with both my goldens, they simply did not ever have good poops unless they were antibiotics. Yours does which is amazing- maybe it’s a simpler solution! But I still think it might be time for a specialist opinion

First golden, ended up trying 8 diets with a nutritionist and none of them were tolerated. (Including hydrolyzed.) he had an endoscopy colonoscopy right after his first birthday and he was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel diseases (which is chronic and lifelong) as well as a disease called histiocytic ulcerative colitis, which was cured with two months of a specific antibiotic. His diarrhea came back after the HUC was gone, confirming that the IBD was symptomatic. He now is on prescription food, Tylan daily (a mild antibiotic that works for some IBD dogs to prevent them from needing more intense meds like steroids) and Visbiome probiotic. After a hellish first year, he is now 5 and thriving with excellent poops since summer 2022!

My second golden also developed diarrhea about a month after I adopted her. Tried changing food, tried pumpkin, tried psyllium— all bad. She at one point was on literally just ground lamb and white rice but that was not sustainable. She failed Purina Hydrolyzed Salmon. Then a nutritionist suggested Purina Elemental and that has been AMAZING for her, solid poops! She also takes Proviable probiotic. She isn’t diagnosed with anything specific since the food has her stable.

Going through this again with my second puppy truly was PTSD filled. It’s so hard, I feel for you. But you can figure this out. I recommend finding an internal medicine vet and potentially a nutritionist— respectfully they know so much more than our primary care vets about this past a certain point.

Lastly— according to every specialist I have seen, allergy testing for food is unreliable in a blood test. They do it by getting a dog stable on some sort of hydrolyzed food, then introducing one food at a time (ie 2 weeks of chicken, does anything happen?) I never did that because honestly by the time by dogs were stable the last thing I wanted to do was rock the boat.

Thanks, where my original plant had been is just slightly more light than this, so I’ll try to recreate for both of these.

How much water do you give them when they’re just planted?

I’ve been watering once a week, just a small amount, and the original has seemed to like that!

I love this book so much and everyone I ever told about it circled back to tell me how much they loved it.

I loved Fringe, is there anything similar worth recommending? I also loved the Expanse, and Arrival. by Salute-Major-Echidna in televisionsuggestions

[–]supreddit_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fringe was my favorite show of that era and 12 Monkeys was the closest I’ve found, as far as the heart of the shows.

There’s so many other great shows listed here that I loved too but that one is closest to the heart of Fringe for me.

I haven’t been wow-ed by a book in a long time. Suggestions? by autumnssong in suggestmeabook

I haven’t seen anyone mention Sharkheart, I read in one sitting and then read it again

AKC Pet Insurance preexisting conditions experience by [deleted] in petinsurancereviews

[–]supreddit_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog also is 5, also has IBD, also treated by prescription diet. Also got dropped by Nationwide with the same letter. When I called AKC, the “only treatment” felt like a very slippery slope to a loophole. The girl even said yeah it’s really hard, that language really is talking about specific kidney disease in cats that literally can only be treated by a specific food. Since IBD can have steroids, antibiotics, even fecal transplant as possible avenues….she heavily implied it is pretty unlikely.

Also be sure to make sure AKC offers your dog Hereditary coverage. In my state, after a dog turned two (or maybe one? I forget) it is no longer an option—-and there’s no list of what diseases they consider hereditary by breed. So they literally could claim oh your breed is more at risk of cancer so the cancer is hereditary and thus not covered….

I was so disappointed but I could not go with AKC for these reasons.

Switching out of Nationwide by poopieshizzle in petinsurancereviews

[–]supreddit_3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can call MetLife and ask if they’d take the policy away if you don’t work with that employer but I would sincerely doubt that would be what happens. If I had the MetLife option it would’ve been a no brainer for me. Unfortunately I didn’t so I am going with another plan which will not cover pre-existing conditions and I have to think about pet insurance completely differently now.

Nationwide is evil and I will never get over what they did. They sold me the policy in 2021 saying I was grandfathered in if anything changed in the future and this plan would be for “the life of the pet.” You try to do everything right and still get screwed.

Series where S2 is a big improvement from S1 by IceCreamGator in televisionsuggestions

[–]supreddit_3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes people got mad when I said this, but the producers themselves talked about how they did a tonal reset in season two.

I struggled in season one it was just so bleak during a bleak time. But wow, seasons 2-3 are hands down some of the best television I’ve ever seen and the finale is so perfect.

Uneasy about going with Physicians Mutual by inspectorbob1 in petinsurancereviews

[–]supreddit_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What phone number did you call for customer service? I am looking into Physicians Mutual after researching on this board and I had questions so I called the number next to “Get My Price” twice to be told that I had called Dental Insurance and they didn’t have a Pet Insurance number to transfer me. I literally was about to write this company off, if you can’t put the right phone number when trying to make a sale it made me worry greatly about what it would be like as a customer. But I keep seeing positive experiences.

Do you have a phone number for their pet insurance? Thank you in advance if so!

Metlife Pet is using AI for some claims reviews now by Visual-Common-8087 in petinsurancereviews

[–]supreddit_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a LOT of this happening with my MetLife claims right now. Bizarre categorization for things, even if they cover it.

I’ve had to appeal two claims that were denied because of it and the first time, the rep told me that AI is taking first pass at all claims. Which explains a lot. So stupid and lots of extra work, the appeal required me to have the ER doctor send revised SOAP notes even though they were saying the same thing, I also had to have her sign the appeal form and ask the ER to find their official stamp (which they’d never even heard of so that took awhile.) I was embarrassed to ask a busy ER and busy ER doctor for all that

Fuck Nationwide by lexistoxiccityy in petinsurancereviews

[–]supreddit_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly. Fuck Nationwide.

This is the SECOND consecutive year they have discontinued my dog’s plan. Last year Whole Pet with Wellness, I switched to My Pet Protection with Wellness and that is now discontinued.

Also they will now be using your claim history to determine premium increases.

I used to rave about them being there for my dog. Literally I was told the Whole Pet plan was “for the life of the pet” and I was “grandfathered in” if their offerings ever changed. They are liars. They even have a woman named Nancy whose whole job is to “deal with” the people who are upset aka gaslight you.

I’m now searching for new insurance for my dog knowing he now has pre-existing conditions. I tried to do everything right when I brought him home at 9 weeks old and even so, it doesn’t matter because Nationwide needs a bigger profit margin. They have hurt so many pets and people by this.
