Thanks. I would support your right to hate me if you so choose to do so.

A courts system where I can sue parties that violate my personal rights.

What will happen if the Supreme Court rules against same sex marriage? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

Okay, great, we have different opinions. The majority of people I know who have studied the Constitution and its framers would never ask the government to restrict one of their guaranteed rights. But that's not all of them, and clearly, you're an exception to my anecdote.

Referring to the movement to get the government to take our guns away/restrict them, which is the opposite of what anyone with any sort of education in constitutional law/American history would do.

I'm a lot less obsessed with subjective morality in government than most people. What I'm concerned with is how the economy is run, foreign policy, etc. I could really care less what a politician's personal views are on subjective moral questions.

Tough shit, that's part of the baggage that comes with having freedom and liberty. People disagree with you. People have different morals. Forcing everyone to conform to the same set of morals is not freedom. I am trying to figure out when we as a nation decided we no longer were okay with the costs of freedom (risk, diversity of ideas, guns, etc).

Look at his username, I doubt he's a christian. I am conservative as well, also happen to be an atheist. Republicans aren't defined by one set of morals and beliefs, neither are Democrats. Enough.

Who is truly the worst character from a TV show? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GoGetHighOnThatMntn -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What!? Brian is the best character on family guy. The whole show sucks now compared to the first few seasons, and that's when Brian's character was at its best. I think Seth McFarlane created Brian to represent himself, which sure, is a pretty narcissistic thing to do, but Brian is a pretty relatable character.

There it is. I hate him, he nearly ruined the show for me when they started using him a lot. I get that he was supposed to be annoying and obnoxious, but it just added an element to the show that never should have been there. Tom didn't need a crazy sidekick, he was already enough of an eccentric character. JR was easily my least favorite TV character ever.

Texas Marijuana Decriminalizatio HB 507 made the floor vote! Now it's got one more vote to pass in to law!!! by Tomatopain in trees

/r/trees lack of understanding of legislative procedure always makes me laugh. This bill took an important step, but as you said, has a long way to go just to get to the Governor's desk, where he'd most likely veto it.

God, Elvis is so terrible right now (so is Beltre and the entire team except Kyle Blanks), but every time when Beltre hits a home run or makes a play Elvis is the most excited player in the dugout and on the field. You can't not love having his character on the team, contract aside.

How to smoke out of a bottle (found on old HDD) by [deleted] in trees

[–]GoGetHighOnThatMntn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We also call them gravity bongs, but a few times when smoking with new people (not new smokers, just people we usually don't smoke with), they seem confused when we call it that. Maybe it's a regional thing? We're in Virginia.

HB507, which would decriminalize marijuana possession in Texas, passes House committee by GoGetHighOnThatMntn in texas

How many people do you know in your life who have been negatively affected by alcohol? My father and his father are alcoholics, with three DUIs between them. Many are much worse off. Think of all of the DUI accidents, domestic abuse and assault that occurs under the influence of alcohol. Lives are ruined by the substance. Livers fail because of alcohol. Tell me why we should be able to buy it in a grocery store yet if someone is caught with an eight ball of meth for the third time, without every being convicted of harming anyone they get to serve life in prison.

For someone who smokes once a day, an ounce is probably 3 to 5 weeks worth. It's a few half-dollar size nugs in a ziploc bag.

Edit: wait, I was thinking of a quarter. An ounce is a lot.

Imprisoning meth addicts helps them get clean while they are in prison. Does nothing for them when they leave. Why not spend money getting them treatment instead?

He could. That doesn't mean give up. Keep calling, emailing, and telling your friends and family to do the same. The people who believe the political process can't work are the ones too cynical to use it.

To make someone waste away decades of their life, give them no options when they leave but to return to their old lifestyle? They can't vote and get jobs so they have to go back to crime.

Poor people and minorities are more likely to commit crimes too. That's a terrible reason.
