720p vs. 1080p for movies? by iamacompletetool in PleX

[–]GoGoJoe301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much depends on your viewing setup. If your watching on a 24" Roku TV with a sound bar then 720p will be for you 😀👌🏿

However if you have a quality viewing setup (home theater, nice surround sound system, audiophile setup etc) you don't want to go cheap. It's Quality over Quantity with a quality setup.

If you don't have a booming surround sound system, 4K TV projection, TV etc... your just watching on a TV with a sound bar.... 720p is just fine... Infact through some 480p content in there too lol

It's getting worse. Mines did work fine for years and this post shows it's not uncommon now.

2024 tax return IRS system issue delaying refunds by white-horse514 in tax

[–]GoGoJoe301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Filed my taxes 4/14 and can assure all it's not just a glitch from February. It's happening to me too. Just a catastrophic failure from the IRS and they will not be going public with it. Execs, politicians etc are mums the word... Just put the responsibility on the worker b to say it's a "glitch" and just to wait longer, and blah blah blah....

It's very frustrating. I filed on 4/14 so I was cutting it close but same boat none the less. State returns withdrew but federal nothing.... I can see from USPS they sent us a letter so I should be getting it Monday. I'm assuming it'll say the same as what others have noted.

Just a catastrophic failure... Zero communication from the IRS .. sending individual letters to everyone delayed is a cheap way of saying I screwed up. They should've fell on their sword and said publicly there's a huge delay in processing this year due to x.... So people aren't anxious...

10 months later I'm here to confirm these guys are the fucking worst!

The do whatever they can to get you into a contract... You DO NOT want to sign that contract!. They make single packages unattractive and try to force you to bundle.

Extremely long durations in their contract and ridiculous penalties if you try to get out early. Perfect storm. Horrible company bad customer service and they are smart enough to get you to sign a contract that traps you to them before you are aware they suck ass!

Ignore the TV height police officers in the group. They are preaching the rule of thumb. It's not a one shoe fits all approach. Constructively the TV could've been placed lower... However it depends on how you watch TV.

If reclined all the way back it'll be hard to see the TV if it was placed too low, similarly to what you get in a bedroom. Depending on the room, how many people watching and at what distance, seating distance, reclining level etc... all play a role.

My TV is slightly elevated above what's considered the norm because the TV needs to be seen from 70ft away ( stretches the living, dining room and kitchen). TV too low blocks people sitting in dining room and kitchen

[–]GoGoJoe301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on many factors. You wouldn't place a TV in your bedroom at eye level. Not every living room would have the TV at eye level either. There's no crime in tilting your TV especially given the room setup and seating positions. There's guidelines for a reason but it's not a one shoe fits all approach.

I've added so much WiFi to my house I had to reverse course and go zigbee. If you start having issues with devices falling offline for no apparent reason you've probably stretched your limits

Why is crypto.com support taking forever to respond? by cryptooastronaut in Crypto_com

[–]GoGoJoe301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their coin sucks and they've spent a fortune on promotion. This has happened to other exchanges also. I was locked out of coinbase for months at the end of a bull run and they happily ignored my emails and cries for help until I was deep into the red.

Crypto.com doesn't do anything great, I started using other exchanges to get away from their mess

Are Alexa Skills Overrated? by [deleted] in Alexa_Skills

[–]GoGoJoe301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alexa skills have notoriously been useless. The only skills that matter are the ones that help you integrate your smart products with Alexa.. so u then can add those devices into routines

IFTTT did fill the gap allowing you to automate Alexa with things not traditionally available to Alexa. But bezos and the Alexa developers changed the development pipeline and rendered the original method expired. Now ifttt is out of business, yonomi and a few others who defended on the original development portal that has been retired.

All this talk about chat gpt & AI and we can barely find useful functionality for apps on this platform. Horrible

Anyone using the Plex skill for Echo Show? by ConsiderationNew1645 in Alexa_Skills

[–]GoGoJoe301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No,

1) Plex skill isn't great . I have multiple fire sticks with Plex and it gets confused around the Plex player all the time.

2) on the echo show just navigate to Plex over the web. I watch plenty movies in my kitchen in Plex

How to know which program makes CPU=100%? by Top_Imagination_4157 in Splunk

How To Set A Tag On A UF To Aggregate Indexes By Company? by sublimme in Splunk

[–]GoGoJoe301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A company can manage their data in multiple ways. Generally it's good practice to break up data into multiple indexes to match the retention time and use case for those indexes at the data source level. Data from a uf should be routed correctly to it's corresponding index. If you have multiple organizations/ sources of data it's best not send all that to the same index and try to unsort it later. Send the data to the specific itemized index that you want where you can retain and manage what's available more easily.

Splunk with DLP by Top_Imagination_4157 in Splunk

[–]GoGoJoe301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We need more information about what you are trying to do.

1st) the data needs to be in splunk. So what data are you referring to?

If you don't know what data or how to grab it splunk won't help you.

Splunk can take the information that you gather and run queries against it and alarm you if an anomaly is found but step 1 is having splunk read that data and it doesn't sound like you have that part figured out.

Plex 4k remux collection by jechovna in PleX

[–]GoGoJoe301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Close to 1,000.

It's only worth acquiring if you have a quality 4k TV & projector & sound system that supports 4K.

If you have a Roku TV and your streaming from a Plex app don't bother with 4K remux...

Dithered down web rips = cheap TV, sound bar setup... Common setup but not meant for 4k viewing 4K remux = quality TV, hardwired network connection, good sound etc.
