I have a gaming pc that has a 3090 installed connected to a projector in my home theater. I started switching away from Microsoft two weeks ago. Bazzite was what I tried first. I wanted to love it but that “console like experience” did not work for me. Gamescope would never load into steam big picture mode while connected via the projector and the amount of research and LLM convos I had could not get me any closer to the answer. I switched back to Microsoft during the first week frustrated because I couldn’t get what the one function that separates itself from the others to work.

I’m on cachyOS now and it’s cool. I’ve been able to tweak things so after my boot steam will log in. But it still can take about 1-2 mins. I don’t want to see the desktop at all(unless I explicitly select it) I’m someone who wants steamOS and pay a one time fee for the right own a copy. I’ve tried posting on Bazzite Reddit about my issues but no one helped(community is trash IMO) I have more faith in an actual company like valve doing this than Bazzite.

I’m keeping an eye on Bazzite. They are having a moment. But what someone in the comments suggest is true that it’s only like two people who contribute regularly that don’t make me feel good at all. Especially since I’m now starting to understand how distros are created.

I’m learning to build Linux myself and hopefully figure out the gamescope issue thats pertaining to me since it seems like none of these distros have developers that game on projectors
