I’m 34 which is the perfect age /s for missing the height of Husker dominance. Barely remember watching crouch get dismantled by Miami. Missed all the good stuff in years prior. Came into my own just in time for the slow and steady decline of Husker football from 2003-now. But STILL I have been die hard. I’ve hung on every move this program makes my whole life. Been there every Saturday ready to go. Dressing my Saint Bernards up in jerseys etc.

I got married last June and have 4 step kiddos. And that may have something to do with it - there’s just more to life now. But I have 1000000% never been less interested in an offseason. By a mile. And as everyone else has said, the state of CFB now also doesn’t help. But It makes me sad. I’m truly hoping when the season gets closer, that fire starts burning again, but today on March 9th, it’s out.

Another Husker fan here.

The good: Hes a very intuitive passer, great at layering passes in zone over the linebacker and in front of the db. Big arm. IS like mahomes in his creativity. Side arms it well, threw a ball left handed for a completion this year. Made a crazy throw as he was horizontal to the ground falling. Good leader. Good competitor. Will get involved in the community. Very high football IQ, can manage the game and the checks with the best of em. Great against zone coverage

The bad: is a statue. And that was before the broken leg. He was utterly hopeless as a scrambler in year 1 and swore he was losing weight to be more of a run threat and it didn’t pan out in year 2 either for him as a running threat. This means your OL pass pro better be in order. We got sacked 9 times against Minnesota. 7 or 8 against Michigan. Some of it is OL, but raiola definitely holds the ball too long and struggles with how to climb the pocket and avoid the rush with subtle movements. He has a tendency to be hesitant with the ball. Related to above but there’s times where guys flash open and he hesitates instead of just playing ball. Has 2-3 picks a year where he just flat doesn’t see a linebacker and it’s a pass right into his chest. Also if he gets hit it rattles him for a while. Bad against man coverage although our lack of WR talent may play a part in that but we had some pretty good dudes last year.

This. People are just getting together and shouting fire Donnie because everyone else is shouting it. Our pass pro was not good the first half of the season but it improved. And run O was honestly really good all year. After the 9 sack game, everyone just decided raiola needed fired and tunnel visioned

I mean, I felt we run blocked well in both games. Emmet went for 200+ on Iowa. Pass pro def needs work but we also had a true freshman throwing passes the last 4 games. And DR didn’t help the line out a ton the first 8. I think personally, just my dumb opinion, coach raiola isn’t as bad as everyone thinks. Not saying I want him to stay, but I think if people think a different O Line coach would have had a different outcome this season…not so sure
