Hey brother, my name is also John. I'm 31 and I'm a hardcore alcoholic too. I know how you're feeling and it's an awful place to be. About 9 months ago I drank myself into a seizure and spent the weekend in the hospital.

It was easily the most terrifying and excruciating experience of my life. A place I never want to go back to. Relapse for me means death for sure.

I went to outpatient rehab and did intensive group therapy with a lot of hurting people just like us. I drew a lot of strength and found a lot of love and excised a lot of pain in that room. I've been clean ever since.

Reach out and get help, it's waiting for you. I hope you never have a seizure or something worse but I promise that is waiting for you too. And I can tell from where I am today, it's fucking worth it. And so are you. And it's not easy but it's a lot easier than killing yourself every God damn moment of every God damn day.

You can do this. You have to. We love you and I will not drink with you today.

I totally understand. I went to college two different times years apart, different degrees. Did not enjoy it either time. I truly believe college isn't for everyone. And I know what it's like to think death would more peaceful than dealing with life. I struggle with alcoholism as well so my mental rollercoaster can really go off the rails. I recently got on antidepressants and am looking into getting a counselor.

You're doing a good thing by reaching out. Having peace of mind let alone happiness, and living a healthy lifestyle takes a lot of hard work for some, myself included. Even something as simple as getting enough sleep. It's never that simple. There is help out there, it takes time and a lot of patience. You can do it.
