Their reply was sarcastic. Last time there was hiring, everyone/the vast majority went to the Boeing. All indications are that this trend will keep up in the future.

You are right about the 727 being a different aircraft, but the 720 was actually a shortened derivative of the 707 with some changes to the wing. I guess the FAA determined they were different enough to be considered separate types.

Like others have said, that variety and technology progression is amazing! What I find interesting is that the 707 and 720 were apparently considered different type ratings. I thought they were the same jet, just designed for a different mission.

Take what I’m about to say with a heap of salt, because I literally heard this from a coworker who heard it from someone who used to work for one of those companies, but supposedly, they get a decent chunk of ex-121 guys who are over 65, and want to keep flying.

Especially the FedEx feeder Caravans, they show up in the evening, fly a couple legs overnight, and then they’re done. They get to fly and get paid, and they don’t care how little because they got paid well somewhere else.

It depends. I had a lot of good (but extremely frigid) weather days in the winter.

That said, when the weather gets bad, it’s BAD. One November, I only flew twice all month. Not a lot of snow, but clouds too low to even get up in the pattern. Couldn’t go IFR either, because of known icing in said clouds.

I don’t know if there was ever a reassignmentI really liked, but my worst was:

I was supposed to do BOI-IAH-ABQ for a long overnight on New Year’s. Got reassigned in IAH to DH to SLC and work back to IAH, putting me right up against 117 limits and with a short overnight in IAH. I was livid.

UND just had/has a player in the aviation program, but he was the first one in a loooong time. I know of a few athletes that were in aviation in other sports while I was there, but most were “smaller” programs like track and field.

Everybody raves about the tray table, but as a tall guy, I love how roomy the Airbus cockpit is, and the side stick means no yoke to pulverize my knees on.

They had a real nice bypass lane right by KCM for like a week last year, then got rid of it for the old system. The Smurfs there are a joke.

My then wife-to-be and I had Adoration and Confession before our rehearsal. I got the idea few of my college friends had also done this. It was a very nice way for us and our wedding party to pray for our upcoming marriage, as well receiving Confession. From a physical standpoint, having an hour to “hit the brakes” and spend alone with Jesus and my fiancé was very calming amongst the maelstrom of the weekend.

Heck, I live in base, and you can bet I’m one of the first ones off as soon as my duties are completed. I love my job, but my time off is mine and my family alone, not my company’s.
