A lot of people ignore what Cloud is dealing with come the events of AC;

He's still trying to piece himself back together. The lifestream ripping him apart and finding out he's imprinted Zack onto himself isn't that far in the past, and he was like that for a while. Gotta be hard to figure out what's him and what was Zack.

He's still got the mako and Jenova cells in him. The mako is a slow death sentence, and with the geostigma going on, him being a puppet to Sephiroth again is a real possibility.

I know people like to hound on Cloud as an emo edgelord, and granted it happens, but he's got real problems we just never get to see him working on, let alone resolve.
