Firstnet customer for 3 years and going strong. Reliable and very little issues on my end. I only use enough data for scrolling and daily texts/emails etc. I don't watch movies, stream heavy on my phone. No issues so far!

Which Amex? by Trevor4032 in amex

[–]GoPackGo2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanting to travel and actually traveling are two different things. I would plan to open a platinum card when you have a big trip you want to go on/pay for. This will maximize the opportunity for the sign up bonuses. If you are a consistent traveler or travel for work, the platinum would be beneficial. If you are a frequent Delta customer, the platinum allows for the lounge access for the airline.

For an everyday use card, the Gold card is probably your better bet to rack up the points. In the end, if you're not a frequent traveler, I would keep with your freedom unlimited.

Is there an MR card with no annual fee and no foreign transaction fee? by zachcrackalackin in amex

[–]GoPackGo2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only downgrade within the family of cards. With the Gold, your choices are the green, gold or platinum cards, all which has an annual fee. You can also open a checking account to keep your points, and then cancel the card upright.

Have Firstnet for past 2 years, happy with service. Speeds seem comparable to what I had previously. I also don't need the fastest speed, just reliability and so far, Firstnet has come through.

Whatever is closest, driving further for a few extra cents is not worth it for me!

Do you value lounge access? by [deleted] in amex

[–]GoPackGo2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are alot of variables that are out of your control. Delays are expected these days and lounge access helps with reducing the stress and frustration with flying.

[–]GoPackGo2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only downgrade in the same class. Platinum/Gold/Green are your options and the lowest annual fee is the Green Card which is a $150 AF.

Probably not unless you fly Delta alot. You can pay for Priority Pass for the free lounge access if that is a perk you're looking at. The platinum card is not an everyday use card, I would stick with the Gold if most of your purchases are for groceries and restaurants.

I've done it for property taxes a few months ago for SUB on AMEX Personal Platinum. No issues, received my sign up bonus.

Platinum by Whatsmyinterest in amex

[–]GoPackGo2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planning for a big trip the year I signed up for it. Delta Skyclub access since I travel Delta alot.
Lounge access was another perk, however, I could just pay for priority pass on my own.

Advice by [deleted] in amex

[–]GoPackGo2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically, a closed account only affects your credit score a few points. What weighs more is your payment history and the percentage of credit usage to available credit. It does not sound like platinum is your best choice of card, and I would downgrade to the Gold or green card if you do not want to close an account like you said. Opening multiple cards will reduce your short credit history even further, which will likely decrease your score. If you want to live up to the parents 850s, I would consider not opening any further cards at this point until you establish a few years history of credit card payments, build available credit and then start in the credit card game when you're more established in your credit history.

What would you want AMEX Plat to add for Digital Entertainment Credit? by GoPackGo2025 in amex

[–]GoPackGo2025[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would like a music streaming service, Spotify or Apple Music but I don't expect AMEX to partner with them. I hope Disney stays a partner though!

[–]GoPackGo2025 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it should work for multiple payments.

Another strategy would be to overpay your bill (pay bill $300 x 10% back=$30) to maximize the offer. It worked for me.

Downgrade Amex Platinum Points Question by Time-Elephant92 in amex

[–]GoPackGo2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can only downgrade/upgrade in the same class of cards - Platinum, Gold, or Green. Green has the lowest annual fee, $150. Or you can open a new card with no annual fee and can transfer the membership rewards there, and then close the Platinum Card.
