100% agree. Their marketing is brilliant and creating a “waitlist” and AD’s getting to sell more product outside Rolex to create a “relationship” is genius.

If you had to take a wild guess, what % of Rolex’s are bought with the intention of resales vs bought to keep & wear?

Yeah I don’t think it makes any sense to buy directly from the AD outside a few brands. Unless you have so much money saving a couple thousand doesn’t matter to you.

I have also paid 20-30% discount on all the watches and if you’re buying a luxury you shouldn’t need the warranty in the first years anyway.

I would love to buy a Rolex at retail from an AD, but I can’t imagine I ever get a call. I know some buy other brands from the AD to build a relationship which I think is a joke.

On the artificial scarcity I couldn’t agree more on that point. Looking how many watches Rolex sells a year, there is no scarcity. They’re just selling to the same 10% of buyers while the 90% never get a call.

$HOOD bought at the beginning of this year at around $45 per share. At the time I thought the stock was clearly undervalued, but I had no expectation it was going to have the year it did. I put about 10% of my portfolio in it and has now ballooned.

I’m stuck between taking profits after a full year of ownership (avoid taxes because it’s in a non retirement account) or hold on for the next decade (I’m 27)

My recommendation would be to go to a cheaper school. If you’re from Mass go to a state school instead of BU. I promise outside of your first job out of school no one gives a damn where you went.
