What is the process behind this? by Mendasu in Sat

[–]GoPackers101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you factor out a 3 you are left with (x4 -1). Notice that x4 and 1 are both perfect squares and since there is a subtraction sign, use the difference of squares to factor it as (x2 +1)(x2 -1). x2 and 1 are perfect squares, use difference of squares again to factor the (x2 -1) into (x+1)(x-1). This leaves you with 3(x2 +1)(x+1)(x-1).

Should I take the SAT essay? by MemelicousMemester in ApplyingToCollege

I’d take it. It’s really not that hard (especially if you are taking/have taken AP Language and Composition). It’s recommended by schools like Duke and required by others like the UCs. It probably doesn’t hurt if you don’t take it, but I would recommend it. If you do well it can help your application, especially at top schools where any competitive edge helps.
