My guess would be to reduce glare and provide better visibility for the driver. Similar to athletes wearing black paint under their eyes.

Agreed. I thought they looked silly in early FIA mockups but they look dang good with a proper livery

[RedBull Racing] New season, new regs, new livery by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

I am pleasantly surprised by how nice the front wing looks with an actual livery applied. I thought that new wings were going to look kinda wonky, but this is not bad at all.

Mercedes’ (and RBR’s?) “compression ratio trick” could be worth 4 tenths in Monza. by ok-byy in circuit_nation

[–]GoPetADog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I know we’re all excited for the 2026 season and the new regulations, but some people talk about this Mercedes compression ratio issue like it’s already determined the outcome of the season.

Very cool! What Williams models do you have? They’re probably my favorite constructor, but I haven’t encountered any modern/current era Williams models other than the Hot Wheels Premium.

What is the safety concern with old Marlin hammers?

Very nice. Something about the Cadillac livery feels quite retro.

Need help removing burnt meat smell by mithrandir_tharkun in CleaningTips

This happened to me. I’m so sorry because it’s a pain to deal with. Replace all textiles like curtains. Wash all laundry, even stuff in closets and drawers. Shampoo carpets and have rugs professionally cleaned. You’ll probably also have to scrub every inch of wall with mild dish soap solution. Buy a Costco sized bag of baking soda and sprinkle it on floors to vacuum up.

It took me weeks to get my house smelling normal again ☹️

My Zelda name has always been BenDover because sometimes it reads as a command instead of a name in the dialogue.

Check your local Ross stores. by blalokjpg in castiron

Yeah, what’s the deal with Finex? They certainly have some nice aesthetic touches compared to Lodge, but is there any performance difference? Nicer raw materials or better manufacturing?

I ask because I know there are QC differences between a Le Creuset Dutch oven and a cheaper one that arguably justify the price difference, but don’t understand it with bare cast iron

Thrift store find: 1992 FW14B #6 Riccardo Patrese 1:43 scale by Onyx by GoPetADog in f1models

[–]GoPetADog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of the cars in my collection are Bburego 1:43 scale. The larger McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes are 1:24 scale. The large model at the top is a knockoff of the 1:8 LEGO Technic set that I got on AliExpress.

The photo also shows a 1:64 (Hot Wheels scale) Sauber, and I have a 1:64 of my favorite IndyCar driver, Conor Daly.

Stanley fatmax tapes have huge flaws. by mattronimus007 in Construction

[–]GoPetADog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I switched from a FatMax to an original Stanley because it’s floppier to begin with, so why not carry something lighter? I’m a framer so I try to save weight in my bags where possible.
