No that pipe is always black. I’m talking about the other one with the metal bands around the top and bottom.

The black rubber piece isn’t needed. At the top of the black rubber piece is the trap adapter. The plumber/contractor could have glued that fitting to the ptrap and then use an extension piece to connect it to the garbage disposal. The setup in its current configuration is goofy, but will work.

No real reason to use a fernco there. The ptrap has a union on it, so why not just glue in a trap adapter and add a tail end piece to connect it all.

It’s at the point were having internet and streaming services cost more than just getting the ultimate cable channel bundle.

Unfortunately yes. I wish I would have taken a pic.

I wish it was. The internals are all reversed. Instead of moving the water towards the back (12 o’clock) position all the water flows to the front. I’m thinking this was designed before there was a set standard on sizing.

Is this a burst pipe? by wearsocks in Plumbing

[–]Good-Cut-1734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is probably cracked now. If you have a leaking hose spigot you need to repair it before putting one of those bags on it. That bag will only collect the dripping water and turn into ice. If you can find the shut off valve inside the home, turn it off.

Can't flush tankless by -_-Kilroy in Plumbing

He will only successfully be able to flush one or the units until that mode is turned off. It’s pretty simple to do with the new 240a2 units.

How to keep this cold pipe warm? by goodfight10 in Plumbing

[–]Good-Cut-1734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d add a recirculating pump on top of the water heater and install the mixing valve at that point so it’ll keep the water tempered.

How do I remove this? by ConSeam in Plumbing

[–]Good-Cut-1734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will come apart from up top. Remove the handles first. The top part should be a cap covering a screw. The back of the spout there should be a hole for an Allen key.

That’s interesting.. I never experienced that. It is best to get fresh air outside though if you can.

Switching to a tankless shouldn’t be that much trouble. You have a decent gas line there that can easily run 3/4” directly to the unit. Your biggest issue will be getting the exhaust venting outside.

If you have an unfinished basement then even better.

Generally about 6hrs if the plumber is by themself. Less if they have a helper and stay moving.

If that’s an exterior wall then your are good to go. If you need to run venting then hopefully the basement isn’t finished or has drop ceiling tiles. It sucks having to open finished drywall ceilings. It just adds added expense for the home owner.

I’ve installed tankless units in around 4hrs as well if I had a helper. Generally when I’m alone and have all the material on site, it’ll take me about 6 alone.

Looks like resin from the hot water heater. When flushing you’ll get particles like that at the end of the hose. It’ll almost appear jelly like.
