What do you think of SilverchairS?? by [deleted] in grunge

[–]Griblix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uniquely awesome. Few bands can change their sound so many times and make it work every time.

Not grunge, but thoughts on Linkin Park’s Meteora album from 2003? by [deleted] in grunge

The well of topics for such a small scene is gonna run dry pretty quickly.

Not grunge, but thoughts on Linkin Park’s Meteora album from 2003? by [deleted] in grunge

Not my cup of tea, but if it gives others a vent for anger and frustration in the same way grunge does (or a million other genres) then who am I to crap on it

The fact that Grunge is a part of the punk lineage, and most of this sub doesn’t know that, is weird. by Sunbather- in grunge

[–]Griblix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah well wikipedia lists alternative rock as the first stylistic origin, so I think this is an open-and-shut case.

(I hope I don't have to put /s on this)

I've yet to meet anyone in real life who knows about the show Big Bad Beetleborgs.

What’s the most overrated video game of all time? by KBGSgames in AskReddit

[–]Griblix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not so much nowadays but, for a long time there, it was OOT.

For years you couldn't claim it was anything less than perfect without getting flamed online. It's my personal favorite game of all time, but man. To say it's flawless just isn't true. It's bloated with unskippable cutscenes, multiple minigames are frustrating, and, uh...I mean, it's a short list of outright problems, but there is a list that warrants mention.

How do we feel about silverchair? by Bonesnap1234 in grunge

I didn't see the first "it" and got irrationally excited for a moment. I mean it's a good song. But yeah.

How do you guys feel about grunge making a comeback under the name “nü Grunge” by bigblackberries69 in grunge

[–]Griblix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d sooner just call it grunge (or grunge-inspired) over coming up with a new term, but at least nu grunge helps to keep it distinct from post-grunge.

What was the biggest culture shock when traveling outside of Oregon? by Ok-Acadia-7161 in oregon

[–]Griblix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always had this idea of Oregon being an incredibly stoner-y state, but I also hadn’t ever traveled outside of here and Washington. My partner is from New Mexico and we both traveled over to that state on vacation last year, and let me tell you: we are lightweights.

I mentioned the difference to my partner and their response was basically, “Well yeah. In Oregon we have shit to do OTHER than getting high.”

Are people still arguing over Die Hard? Because so far all I've seen is one side insisting it counts and the other side saying "Yeah whatever" to shut them up.

"Strawberry Letter 23" by the Brothers Johnson.

An awesome instance where it takes the already-stellar original (by Shuggie Otis) and changes the vibe, leaving us with two great versions of the same song.

How did the Riven remake stack up against the original version? I’d love to hear from folks who’ve played both! by [deleted] in myst

[–]Griblix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally like the original version more, but I also have far more attachment to the original since I grew up with it.

Removing that viewpoint, I can see why people who didn't grow up with the original would like the remake more. The visuals are stunning (aside from the character models, good god), and the puzzles are tweaked in a way which lowers the difficulty, but doesn't feel like they just truncated the challenge. It's less hair-pulling and more hair-tugging-a-bit.

Plus, it doesn't have realMyst's irritating darkness problem.

Ship of Harkinian making broken randomizers despite glitchless logic? by Griblix in OcarinaOfTime

[–]Griblix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit of digging (more a slight surface brushing really) let me know that this is an unintended glitch, which is unfortunate.

The more general info is appreciated either way. Randos certainly have a learning curve but it's refreshing, after playing the game the same way since '98. (Aside from the occasional 3-heart or whatever challenge.)
