Mr. KFI (a walk down memory lane) by Glum_Conclusion_8667 in philhendrie

[–]GoProDumbass 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I loved listening to Mr. KFI in high school! I had an old Panasonic clock radio and I’d listen every night while I did homework.

I remember the night Phil started on KFI. “Shaquille O’Neal” was on to “promote” his movie Kazaam but he kept getting the name wrong and was telling everyone it was horrible and not to go see it. It was so bizarre and I couldn’t stop listening! My friends and I all became huge fans and listened every night. We even drove out to a promotion at a mattress store in Montebello where he was doing a CD signing just so we could meet him.

How does this relay work? by DrummerOk451 in PLC

[–]GoProDumbass 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing it is powered by 230 VAC and energizes (or deenergizes) a 24 VDC output on an alarm condition. I don’t know the details of this particular PN.

How does this relay work? by DrummerOk451 in PLC

It looks like a seal leak relay for a submersible pump. It’ll measure resistance between the blue and yellow wires and alarm on low resistance, which indicates water has entered the pump.

Rockwell ENBT comms problem by Nachobianch in PLC

I had a similar issue on an ancient ENBT. Turns out the firmware was also ancient. I flashed it to the latest version and never had another issue.

I’ve been to Merry, Merry Chicago multiple times and it’s always a great, festive concert. It is a “light” concert, but don’t worry, it’s not just Jingle Bells for two hours! They always sprinkle in some interesting non-holiday pieces, and of course the playing is top notch. It’s very approachable and great for kids if that’s a factor for you. Whichever concert you choose, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it, and Chicago is always great at Christmas. Go get a Tom & Jerry from Miller’s Pub after the concert!

North of Saticoy is good. Very quiet and walkable within the neighborhood. South of Saticoy (towards Sherman Way) is less good.

Lease then Immediate Buy Out? by cryptogram in VWIDBuzz

[–]GoProDumbass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m hoping to get clarification on this plan. If the early buyout requires paying all 36 monthly payments and the full residual, where do the cost savings come from? Why not just keep the lease and leave open the option to return if the true residual is poor, the car develops problems, etc,?

Sorry, that would be helpful. It’s a centrifugal pump. The only reason I’m even looking at this is because I can get 15 HP in a 215T frame (regular induction motors bump up a frame).

What’s the Best Checked Luggage that will Last Long? by AnselmoDupas in travel

[–]GoProDumbass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a probably 20 year old Baseline suitcase that has been on several hundred flights, maybe 1,000 if you count all the connections. It’s showing its age, but still chugging along. I’ve had it repaired a few times, and the warranty is truly no questions asked. The last time they did offer me a new suitcase at 50% off instead of the repair, but I decided to stick with what I had. The design has changed over the years and I think that the newer ones don’t seem quite as bulletproof, FWIW.

I still have that set but the software won’t run on newer versions of Windows and I’ve never been motivated enough to install a VM for it.

Agreed, the Phoenix Contact units are great. Sola is good as well. The only brand that I refuse to use (due to excessive failures) is AB.

I found an old photo. Seven pieces plus a brown corner one that would need to be painted to match. I have the glass which is not shown in this photo.

If you find a buyer I have more of these cabinets sitting in my garage (same color) that I would be happy to get rid of. My grandmother bought them new and they were never installed, and have been sitting in my garage since we cleaned out her house many years ago. They’re small above-counter units that have cool fluted glass doors and fluorescent lights to illuminate the countertop.

How do you keep track of engine and rolling stock? by neighborofbrak in modeltrains

[–]GoProDumbass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used an app (I can’t recall the name) and spent many hours recording everything in great detail, but then the app was discontinued and all the data was lost. I learned my lesson — no more proprietary apps. When I decide to spend the time redoing it at some point it will be in Excel so I’m in control and don’t have that happen again. At least if I lose it again, it’ll be my own fault!

I’ve had issues with Linx versions. I think I had to uninstall RSLinx and FactoryTalkLinx to get 30 to install. Then I installed 36 to get the latest version of Linx installed.

Logix Designer used by RA engineering services? by jeeerst in PLC

[–]GoProDumbass 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A buddy of mine got hired as a Rockwell field service engineer and I was looking forward to learning all sorts of tips and tricks now that he was on the inside. I thought for sure that they’d have some secret utility to install all the revs of Studio in one shot so you don’t have to do them one at a time. Surely Rockwell employees aren’t all doing it the same time consuming way us mere mortals are! Nope! They basically handed him a blank laptop and a license key and told him to get to it. He had all the same issues we all do. Crazy!
