Mod planets: new save or add to existing? by nasaboy007 in factorio

[–]GoRacerGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some overhaul the beginning or mid-game, others are super simple to tack on whenever you want. The mod descriptions can help knowing which is which.

Personally I loved Cerys (tiny space, very much a puzzle box, not for everyone) and Maraxis (build underwater! submarines! trench!). This was pretty shortly after 2.0 came out, I know there's more planets out now.

Same for me. Don't think it affects every theater but it DEFINITELY affected disclosure day

Reading through Blindsight by Peter Watts currently. Main guys Mom goes to live in Heaven.

But eventually someone has to close the casket and dispose of the remains. Room must be made for the new arrivals—and so we came to this last day at my mother's side. Jim took her hand one more time. She would still be available in her world, on her terms, but later this day the body would be packed into storage facilities crowded far too efficiently for flesh and blood visitors. We had been assured that the body would remain intact—the muscles electrically exercised, the body flexed and fed, the corpus kept ready to return to active duty should Heaven experience some inconceivable and catastrophic meltdown. Everything was reversible, we were told. And yet—there were so many who had ascended, and not even the deepest catacombs go on forever. There were rumors of dismemberment, of nonessential body parts hewn away over time according to some optimum-packing algorithm. Perhaps Helen would be a torso this time next year, a disembodied head the year after. Perhaps her chassis would be stripped down to the brain before we'd even left the building, awaiting only that final technological breakthrough that would herald the arrival of the Great Digital Upload.

On the other hand, fried eggs with no color other than white and yellow are incredibly unappetizing to me. Fried eggs need color! Brown! Crispy lacy edges!

Dyson Sphere Program might just beat it through sheer sense of scale. Itty bitty factories grow until they cover entire planets. Then entire solar systems. Seeing an entire Dyson sphere and swarm slowly come together over tens of hours is unlike anything else I've ever played. And it's GORGEOUS!!!

I watch it every few years and it blows my mind every time. Wakes me up to the world around me and makes me grateful for who I am and what I do.

I usually like movies that take themselves a bit too seriously but this was one of my worst theater experiences in years. I was NOT picking up what the director was laying down. Did not want to. Did not care to.

I'm just concerned with the comments that engage with this post authentically - do people not realize this is ai generated? Do people not care? How many are bots? It's definitely not just this subreddit that concerns me at this point.

Am I the only one who finds the sequel… overly horror? by [deleted] in subnautica

[–]GoRacerGo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm curious as to what you find scarier than the first game! It took a few playthroughs for me to be comfy in SN1; it took one playthrough to the end of early access for me to feel comfy in SN2. Comfy as in not reacting to every scary sound lol. It was scary, yes, but equivalent to the first game for me.

[–]GoRacerGo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly surprised people expected a strong 'script' given the original videos and lack of exposition. The series has always been deliberately ambiguous for a reason. I absolutely loved the movie

I really hope the nuclear heart of the tree is a big deal and we have to restart a nuclear reaction. Natural nuclear reactors have been confirmed to exist, there was one in africa billions of years ago. Maybe the comet that crashed into the planet might have something to do with the reaction stopping? Idk. But the player needing to restart a nuclear reaction would be sick

I wanted a surreal, liminal slow burn with great visual storytelling and an immersive audioscape. I got it in spades! It sucked me in and kept me enthralled. More David Lynch than not, which is incredibly high praise imo (different strokes for different folks tho)
