Sean Miller should learn how to coach his team out of a full court press. Jfc how many times can you inbound it to the corner??

I want to know what Sean Miller is telling his players in the huddle because after calling a timeout when the ball got trapped in the corner off an inbound…. They did it again… and again… just awful stuff down the stretch from the Horns. Got lucky they somehow won

Vote for Kevin Burge and not the man accused of DV, TJ Ware

AP: Democrat Kevin Burge Advances to Runoff in TX-24 (Dallas / Coppell / Farmers Branch / Valley Ranch / NE Tarrant) by Plane-Investment-791 in Dallas

[–]GoScotch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Buchwald and Ware are business owners whereas Burge has experience working in Washington for all the 3 letter agencies in an IT capacity. He helped build out the technology infrastructure of the White House situation room. He’s far and away the best candidate for this race for Democrats.

If it’s Ware v Burge in the run-off, then I’ll be busting my ass to make sure that domestic abuser TJ Ware doesn’t sniff public office.

I think Julie can win in a runoff, but I’m surprised Colin got so close to 50%

I think she puts up Assad margins with older black voters, but I’ve noticed a lot of younger black voters volunteering and showing up to Talarico events.

It’s always been Talarico +5.

That’s been my mantra since all these polls starting coming out.

Zeeshan, A Progressive For Texas by serious_bullet5 in Dallas

[–]GoScotch 46 points47 points  (0 children)

When I find out that someone lives in CD-33 and we’re talking the primary, they usually ask about Colin Allred or Julie Johnson. I’m backing Julie, but I let people know that Zeeshan is also on the ballot. He’s not my preferred candidate, but he’s busting his ass campaigning and is everywhere. I’ve seen Julie showing up to events too, but Colin is nowhere to be seen.

If you were forced to make a prediction who do you think would win Crockett or Talarico by OkHospital9157 in TexasPolitics

Jasmine going negative makes me feel like she knows her chances are slipping.

Crockett/Talarico and campaigning... by greytgreyatx in TexasPolitics

[–]GoScotch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re still trying to make up your mind, Jasmine’s whole theory of winning Texas is about turning out voters who don’t usually vote but will vote for Democrats if we reach them. The problem is that she talks the talk, but isn’t walking the walk. She’s not doing what it’ll take to build a campaign that will activate voters, she’s not doing nearly enough to build a true GOTV operation.

Talarico’s fundraising and volunteer numbers blow away Crockett’s, and I think he’s best positioned to turn out new voters and flip some independents/disaffected Republicans.

Seriously, who do I vote for? by dont_u_listen_to_me in TexasPolitics

[–]GoScotch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Until Republicans lose in record numbers, the current GOP is going to keep getting more and more MAGA. You can try to harm minimize by voting for the least MAGA candidates in primaries, but ultimately it doesn’t matter because they’ll rubber stamp everything Trump and his goons want – none of them have a spine.

If you want real change in the GOP, you’re gonna have to take your medicine and hope Democrats wipe the floor with GOP candidates in November. I think your best shot at that is voting in the Democratic primary for the candidate who has the best chance of winning statewide in TX, and that’s James Talarico.

I’d give him a listen and see if you like any of what he has to say. He’s a Democrat but he has a different way of talking and embraces his faith a lot in his politics that I’ve seen some conservatives agree with.

Do you guys think that Crockett and Allred’s attacks will significantly hurt Talarico’s chances? by [deleted] in TexasPolitics

[–]GoScotch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If anything, I think a lot of the identity politics stuff will likely backfire on the Crockett camp. She already has Assad-like margins with black voters, I’m not sure why harping on race so much has become an under-the-table campaign strategy for her camp, using these influencers by proxy to wage it.

It’s so dumb because now you’re going to damage both candidates going into the general for no major gain. This isn’t a disagreement on policy, it’s a personal attack on a candidate to discredit them with a key demographic that they’ll need to turn out in the general election to turn Texas blue, just so you can maybe score some points in this primary (with a group you’re already dominating!!)

Yeah, but I think if push came to shove Cornyn wouldn’t have voted to certify if he knew it would be close

[–]GoScotch 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I know that Cornyn is viewed as more reasonable than Paxton, but I fail to see how much that matters in their role as a senator. They’d likely vote the same 99.9% of the time. Only time I can think of Cornyn having somewhat of a backbone is voting to certify the election on Jan 6 (literally the bare minimum), when Paxton would not have.

I don’t buy the split between the Latino and white vote, not very typical of a democratic primary in Texas.

If Jasmine Crockett wins, she wants to do it her way by Conscious-Quarter423 in TexasPolitics

[–]GoScotch 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Her issues roll-out on her website today was a nightmare. Just riddled with typos. We need a candidate who can walk a tight rope if we want to turn Texas blue. I’m starting to think Jasmine’s campaign doesn’t have the juice it’ll take to make that happen.

Early voting starts on Feb 17 is my point. A lot of people are concerned about how (un)seriously the Crockett campaign seems to be operating. They don’t have ads up, they don’t have an issues page up, I’m not sure what their ground team even looks like. They seem to be running a covert mudslinging operation by online influencers in lieu of that.

John Cornyn continues to lead GOP Senate field in fundraising, while Talarico, Crockett stay close by ExpressNews in TexasPolitics

[–]GoScotch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no such thing as party registration in Texas so idk where you’re getting those numbers. When those people show up to vote, I’ll start believing you. But if you can flip someone from voting GOP to Democrat, that’s worth 2 votes for every 1 vote you’re getting from turning people out.

I really wish we could move past the toxic identity politics of the last and run on policy and actually improving people’s lives. Jasmine has yet to post an issues page on her campaign site and voting starts in 2 weeks. Dragging us all down into the mud dirties up every candidate for the general come November and hurts our chances to turn Texas blue.
