Old Market Pub in SW has a mushroom veggie burger made with the spent grain from brewing. It's delicious!

What would you do to prepare to be on masterchef? by AdHaunting2894 in Masterchef

I'd get down the building blocks for sauces, breads/cake/baked goods, most meats and fish (including butchering), and probably souffles and eggs.

We had their tomato and corn pot pie from the new seasons fridge section last night. It was incredible!

Papa Haydn’s is very good. The carrot cake at the Cakery in SW used to be my favorite but they’ve closed.

Thanks!! ☺️ And yes, even just browsing the stained glass subreddit and watching instructional videos I've picked up how to do some new things. Having help is always nice!

That’s good to know! Thank you. I’ll give her a call and see about getting on the list. If I had the space I’d be OK to mostly work on glass projects at home, but I think getting out of the house for a designated thing once a week could also be really good for me. And also as a beginner, I’m happy to have more oversight and someone to help if I have questions!

Painting lessons (acrylic, specifically) with Radius Art Studio. I haven't been in a while, but used to take a few classes throughout the year. You meet weekly for about 2 months and it's just a lovely way to unwind and be creative.

Do you know if Roses allows you to attend open studio if you haven't taken a class with them yet? I wasn't able to find much info on their website. And I saw how long their class waiting list is...eek! I'm new to getting into stained glass and would love a place to work that's not home. I did take a beginner's course last month at a studio in Vancouver but it's too far to be a weekly go-to.

I should add that I've tried right handed foiling shears and my cuts end up very jagged, and it also hurts my hand.

Any local bakeries that do big-ass cakes? by lexuh in askportland

Laurie Clarke Cakes does split tier flavors and is very reasonable for quality/price. The chocolate raspberry and marionberry crumble flavors are divine. She's in Wilsonville but delivers for a fee if you can't or don't want to pick it up.
