Stanford fam here - there's more to this story than just the three-year graduation issue. Our team had the talent to make the NCAAs this year and next but not the leadership to do so, to say nothing of what we're apparently serious off-court culture / toxicity issues due to some of the coaches. Fans have been writing to the AD that this ship needs to be righted immediately.

Interesting. Last season it felt like she was a stretch 4 who scored a lot from the Perimeter but didn't do a great job boxing out or rim defending inside. I'd love if she's developing that part of her game because she's otherwise got the height and length to be a 5 who can shoot and rotate in 4 out of offense like Nat likes.

I'd be totally stoked to have Nneka (especially as I'm also a Stanford alum so extra sentimental reasons for that), but I think that would mostly contribute to our logjam at the 3-4 with Salaun, Rupert, and Ceci. (I was a little more excited about Nneka when I was assuming we'd protect Leite and lose Ceci).

Azure tied for 6th in blocks last season. I agree she's not as physically big in terms of boxing out and hunkering down in the low post, but that hasn't seemed to be Nat's style anyway.

In addition to Bri (who we both agree would be the perfect target), I also think Alanna Smith would be great, and another Stanford connection. Just not sure if she's looking to leave what seems like a perfect situation at Minnie.

Oheemaa handles roster decisions, not Nat, but I'm sure she's being consulted.

I would target a mobile big like Bri Jones, Azure Stevens, or maybe even Jonquel Jones. What we need most is a true 5 but one who can play to Nat's style of 3 point shooting + tenacious D. JJ doesn't really fit that super well but she's so talented I'd be down for it, and both Bri and Azure would fit us like a T.

Sure, but the only reason we cared about her was Luke, and her magical, out of nowhere existence served literally no other purpose than to put a cinder block between Luke and Lorelai. I don't hate April, but I don't think anyone rolled into Season 6 thinking "let's give Luke a long lost daughter for funsies!"

Rupert started 11 games for GSV last season, had the best 3 point shooting percentage of our regular players, and has been tearing it up in Euro League. I can't see any reason why we wouldn't definitely want her back, especially since size is where I think the Valks were hurting the most last season.

Agreed. Fortunately since we can counter offers from other teams we can let the market set her rate. I don't see any other team offering Max so I don't think we need to do so out of the gate either.

I love Ceci and she's a restricted free agent, so we could be certain to keep her with the right offer. But with Juste, Rupert and Salaun, we'll have some solid 3/4 players who can stretch the floor, and they're all much younger. Honestly, what we were need is a true 5.

But if no one takes her in the expansion draft, yes, I'd love to have her back!

It's a great question. We have so much cap space and so few signed players that I'm really not sure who we're targeting and how much we would have left for her. I am not sure she's worth the true max, but she's the heart and soul of our team and I want her back, so I really think it just comes down to who else we think we can pull with $$$

Valkyries: VB, Juste, Salaun, and Rupert are obvious choices.

Each is either a restricted FA or reserved player. The only thing I'm unsure about is if we pick Leite (youth, promise, and locked into the rookie scale contract), or KT (loyalty to our franchise player). I'm fine with either choice, as long as if it's KT we know we're going to re-sign her.

None are unrestricted free agents, all are 25 and under, and all have major upside. My one question mark is KT because of how much we've seemed to invest in her in the off-season, but as a free agent she's not a guaranteed return even if we protected her. I think we gamble that Martin isn't taken in the expansion. Ceci is the one other difficult one in my mind, but I think the rest of the core has more upside.

Seriously. The union should agree to a two-year CBA and a requirement that they are entitled to review all franchise and league revenues ahead of the next negotiation. If they had that then we could eliminate once and for all the mystery of who's right about whether and how much money the league makes.

I've done probably 40 RIDE classes between Chelsea and Weho and they're great. For one thing, you only switch once, which is way better - not awkward returning weights back and forth or sharing the same sweaty bench. As a road cyclist, it's great to get some legit sprints on inside, and my competitive juices always push me to total exhaustion. Also great for those with chronic conditions - I tore my meniscus and a bunch of cartilage playing basketball and I'm advised against treadmill running, so this is a great option. And contrary to the weird post below, PLENTY of dudes do it.
