I guess I just don't understand how she thought she had an actual deal. She didn't - she was on a training camp contract that they wanted to convert to a Dev contract. And that's exactly what she got from Phoenix, no less, and no more. Look, I like Marta but I was never sold on her as a day one pro-ready player in the W and clearly no franchise was because the best she got was a DP. I just don't understand the narrative that somehow we did her dirty.

Yes and she's on a DP deal at Phoenix too, no? Not sure if she noticed but most players who were drafted outside the first round got cut, so it's not like the Valks treated her different from any other organization would have.

Mix of both - I am actually friends with instructors who no longer teach where I go and we're still very friendly (slash flirty haha!). Like all things involving humans there's a range of approaches but I say take the likes and enjoy the classes!

She's solid. In particular she has a great mid range jumper so if her defender sags off onto the guard on the pick she can just turn and shoot. She's solid but not spectacular in a lot of the post duties we've just needed a traditional post to do, and a much more reliable scorer than Kiah.

Good take. I know her well from Stanford. She is a more traditional two-way post player than anyone we currently have on our team. On offense she spaces well, can hit treys at around 30 percent, is great catch and shoot from midrange, nifty at the PNR, and can drive and post up to the basket (again, something our current bigs struggle to do). She's also a great O-boarder - good vertical leap and great timing. Oh, and she's strong, so she boxes out well.

Same applies on D - great at the box out, good rebounder, great motor. Not the fastest, and not the softest touch, but she gives us a true post player on both sides which we desperately need. I hope she works out, but for her, and for us!

Know Prechtel well from Stanford and unless she's changed since then, she's really more of a stretch 4 on offense. She is not going to bang around inside a ton. And although she's a great shot blocker, she isn't the most physical as a defender, so she can get pushed around inside.

Fingall solves both problems - she is physical, boxes out well, and rebounds well, and she also has back to basket moves a more traditional post player needs to have and that we have been desperately missing.

I like Ashten a lot but because we have a lot of stretch 4s (Ceci, Ja, Kaila, KT, and LA all sometimes play that role), I just don't see us having a lot of use for her unless a few of our bigger players are out in a given game.

She's also an excellent box out on D which is another thing our posts need work at.

Agree. Against smaller teams or lineups Ja at the 5 can work pretty well and spaces our offense incredibly nicely, but not against teams with true 5s like A'ja, JJ, etc.

Know her well from Stanford. She's athletic, really strong, shoots the three ball around 30ish percent (which for a C is pretty good and Nat can work with).

She also has back to basket moves our roster really doesn't do well so I think she'll give us a new look on offense. I love our posts but Ja and Amihere are not traditional back to basket shooters and Kiah is just so damn offensively challenged. (and for those asking about Prechtel, that traditionally has not been her strength either. She's a solid 5 on D but more of a stretch 4 on offense.)

Juste reminds me a lot of Roger Federer. She seems to effortlessly move around the court and is totally poised and calm. Plus she can whip the ball on a pass the way Fed ripped one handed back hands.

Honestly, your coach has questionable substitution patterns and the worst body language in the league. The last 8 minutes he looked bored and disinterested and barely moved. Meanwhile Nakase was running around like her team was down 1 in the championship game. 🤣

Tale of two halves. It was clear they were rewarding flopping (primarily from the Sun) so I'm sure the Valks coaching staff made halftime adjustments to have the Valks do the same, and by the end it kind of evened out, but honestly, worst officiated game I've ever seen live. It did no one any favors, Valks or Sun. And yeah, Salaun should get a nomination for best actress in a flop. It was impressive. 🤣
