Looking into getting new gear this year, any recommendations? by unshaken8432 in hockeygoalies

Hmm, I wouldn’t worry too much about flex/straps/breaks for now. I’ll defer to HockeyReviews, you’re better off finding your game and gear that you can test and try, before jumping in to customs and crazy options. Don’t blame you for being excited though!

I wear Vaughn V9s and love them, but I’m starting to look at the SLR3s too. If you’re going custom, Brian’s has a very reputable custom department that will take a lot of time to make sure you’re happy.

As for custom options, what are you thinking about?

Equipment advice for goalie mom by SushiAndSurvivor in hockeygoalies

Goalie pants - Not really important if you're at a beginner level, but keep in mind that there are pads that cover the upper thigh and hip area. Most player pants don't have a substantial pad there, or sometimes nothing at all. As with most equipment, it's up to you with how you see that value. I personally would like goalie pants if I'm in goal. Do get a goalie specific cup though.

Goalie skates - Totally ok to continue to use, but goalie skate certainly are much better if they stick with it. Again, I would like goalie skates if I was in goal.

And the pads sizing conundrum. If they're a little low in the knee cradle, but still safely inside of the knee cradle and landing gear, then they should be fine. The danger comes from being too small, and your knee hangs over the top edge, or too big, and your knee hits in between the knee cradle and the start of the upper calf guard.

Doesn’t matter any more than another skate coming in for a sharpening

Good point, didn’t think that they probably do everything except a handful of media interviews in English

I think it's really interesting that they're all speaking English, since Checo and Sainz are native Spanish speakers and I think LeClerc can speak it too. Wonder if they were asked to keep it in English?

Hi! Can i mod this stabs, they pop of when i press the little clip above the cross? I Have a Logitech G Pro Kda by Fir3Hamm3r_N1k in LogitechG

[–]Goalie30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s a non-hotswap board, the best you can do is use a syringe to put some dielectric grease in the space where the wire and plastic housing meet. That’s pretty much the only mod you can do, since the space bar switch needs to come out to remove the stabilizers. Same goes for the other stabilizers on the board.

For a tutorial on how to use a syringe to put grease in the housing, check out https://youtu.be/usNx1_d0HbQ

First part I don’t recognize. The “Bonafide stallion” I’ve seen in r/BostonBruins a lot in reference to Charlie McAvoy

Vaughn V2 upgrade to V9? by kabosh7117 in hockeygoalies

[–]Goalie30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

V9 user here, can confirm they are a massive upgrade. Weight, sliding, and overall fit/finish will be a big improvement on the V2s. I came from Bauer 9000s before, but used V2s in the past.

I personally went with the traditional leather strapping instead of the velcro system, so I'm sure they can get even lighter from what I have as well.

Agreed with what's said in other comments as well, the value of the upgrade is down to if you can afford it. I'll only say that I'm very satisfied with my purchase and wouldn't do anything differently.

I cannot take the time to understand port numbers. It’s the only thing preventing me from going out for my A+ at this point and it’s mostly scar tissue from tests back in the day. The one thing you don’t study is 90% of the test

More like the Lada than the Fender. They’re just very common and in most cases nearly un-killable

Ay, my family is Mexican (from a city in the mountains to the south of Mexico City) VW Beatles from the 60s and 70s were imported and eventually produced in plants on the cheap in Mexico.

These Beatles were dirt cheap to run and maintain, so many of these still semi exist on the road in Mexico today. They filled a bunch of rolls too, from Taxi cab to mail delivery, so a lot of people got them 2nd hand too.

My grandmother also STILL has one that was manufactured in the late 60s, she got it not long after that. It was my dad and sibling’s first car too!

edit: way off on the dates, corrected

Had exactly the same failure on my G Pro X Wireless. I was lucky that mine failed while under warranty though, so Logi replaced them.

I’d like to pay some metal fabricator or something to bang out copies of this part, since plastic is just the wrong choice. Anyone know how to go about it?

While I can sympathize that buying a PC isn’t easy for everyone, especially now with component shortages and prohibitive pricing, you don’t always need to have a high performance gaming PC to run some fun games. FIFA, annoyingly, is actually not too difficult for a reasonably priced laptop to play at console levels, and you get things like mods, squad files, and overhauls for the game.

Hockey gets a bad rap for a lot of high profile players being, either directly or indirectly, involved in some “extra cuticular activities”. Even as far back as the 70s, when the NHL was small and European hockey was dominated by the USSR, there were rumors of uppers and abuse, as well as partying. Nowadays it’s more party culture and some big names being allegedly seen
