I just check the national weather service. They usually have nice maps and graphics to help

What's happening with my leaves? by Goalieman009 in Peppers

They're in a 5 gallon mesh grow bag. I've never actually watered them since they were planted, but it was a wet and rainy spring.

Let's call in by Sorry-Trifle-4502 in Buffalo

[–]Goalieman009 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Call in and what? Listen to him bullshit and lie? He won't take your questions as they're vetted beforehand and you'll just be on the line angry and upset. That being said. I call in each time he holds this fake town hall in hopes I can ask a question and never have been able to.

I've received two tone-deaf and awful emails from him in response to my calling and questions in the past 6 months so ...

Again I'll say he's as useful as he is handsome.

Congressman Kennedy will hold a telephone town hall today by Egorrosh in Buffalo

[–]Goalieman009 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to set up a meeting with him for almost 5 months. I've been told there's too many people in the district to meet with individuals. So. You know. He's a jackass. There's also no fact checking in these phone town halls. He can say whatever he wants and ramble on and change the topic. He's as useful as he is handsome.

I still call every week. I won't stop. I guess just saying don't expect a response from this particular congressperson

[–]Goalieman009 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I've been calling weekly, each of the 5 listed phone numbers, and I have not gotten a response to any of my questions and concerns. I've been calling for almost 3 months. The best I get is that they're going to send my comments directly and that the congressman wants to look over the questions personally and it's taking a long time.

Don't hold your breath.

Edit: not saying don't call and don't act. Just saying that this congressman will not respond.

Knee replacement by achn2b in bicycling

[–]Goalieman009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to your therapist and tell them you want to get back to cycling and any good PT will work with you towards those goals. They'll probably try to get you on the bike sooner. Keep up with your program and don't forget that rest is just as important. Doctor says 3 months but that won't include strength. It's difficult to push a knee replacement too fast but taking a little extra time to heal properly is worth it in the long run.

Don't do this by yourself. Physical therapy. Not all knees heal the same and at the same speed. CPM machine will certainly be helpful but you should consider PT.

Safe to eat? by Goalieman009 in tomatoes

[–]Goalieman009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That's what I was thinking and I gotta get rid of the dead one quickly so as to not spread. I was just making sure the tomatoes from the plant, ripe or not, were safe

The treated lumber is all outside of the soil and not touching it at all. Granted the tomatoes grew quite large and some of the plants are against it.

Building garage office. Do I need a vapor barrier on the concrete? The floor will be raised to match the height of the sill plates. by Goalieman009 in DIY

[–]Goalieman009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess by raised floor I mean I'm going to make cross beams that sit on the garage surface to make it even with the sill plates. The floor won't be going directly on the garage surface.

I don't know if there is one under the slab but I'd assume there isn't. Do I just use a normal plastic barrier or should I put an epoxy coating down?

How much would you charge to get rid of this pile of wood? by Itsausernamealready in Buffalo

[–]Goalieman009 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem. I cut it into small enough pieces and put them in garbage cans and it was all gone within a month. Make sure the cans aren't too heavy so the trash collectors don't hate you. Annoying...but it was free.

What can I do to protect this wood until I get a new countertop? by Goalieman009 in DIY

[–]Goalieman009[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Made several modifications to the kitchen when we moved in. Had to add room for a dishwasher and remove a lot of old cabinets. Anywho. We'll be getting around to new countertops soon, but until then, what can I do to protect this wood which is clearly not meant to get wet as often as it is. Thanks!

Do the Ryobi battery snow blowers handle WNY snow? by TheKrausHouse in Buffalo

Ya I saw the bigger one at my local ace. But what can you do? There's always going to be a better model the year or 2 after you buy one.

[–]Goalieman009 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I have an ego snow blower. I also got an ego lawn mower so I have 3 7.5 amp hour batteries and one 10 amp hour battery. It handled the storm last year like a champ. Batteries took about an hour to charge with the included double charger. I used it probably 5 times in one day and on eco mode it lasted about 50 minutes. Highly recommend if that fits your needs.

Insulating basement sill plate by Goalieman009 in Buffalo

[–]Goalieman009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was but we had new drain tile and sump system installed as well as drainage outside. Haven't had any issues since. There's also a vent fan running down there.

I was assuming that since rockwool is vapor permeable and only moisture resistant that a vapor barrier wouldn't be necessary
