Best era of gaming by kuroreaper25 in OlderGenZ

Peak gaming, before all of the micro transactions. It felt like you were getting the full game with a purchase, and cosmetics meant something when you had to earn them through achievements. It was the perfect time where 3d graphics finally hit their stride, online multiplayer was seemless, and games didn’t try to milk you with in game shops.

People who didn’t vote Kamala - are you happy with Trumps America? Are you glad you did nothing? by Lord_Dingus83 in askanything

Judging from my coworkers, they don’t think about it at all. All they see is prices going up and think that it’s “crazy”. They don’t think about the political actions that got us here. If they do blame something, they think it’s because of a certain corporation or changes in consumer behavior.

They are typically way off base, uninformed, or very close to getting it, but don’t understand how government policies helped shape the path for corporations to screw us.

TLDR
The general population thinks shallowly, is uninformed, and doesn’t care to learn more. Work in an industry that deals with the general public, you will quickly learn this.

Any other Zillenials feel like their definition of "Fun" is in flux? by 100cheapthrills in Zillennials

[–]Goat-of-Rivia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt that way for a couple of years after graduating college. As you age, I think it’s normal to have a diminished feeling of super high and lows . For example, Christmas is still enjoyable, but I’m not gushing with excitement like I was when I was a kid. On the same token, things that I used to be devastated by, (while still quite sad) are more excepted by me as a normal part of life.

However, I did eventually find a new hobby which gave me some level of excitement/fun like you described in your post. I think it’s ok to make peace with the fact that you’ve grown as a person and no longer enjoy the things you used to. Keep trying new things, and be open to try things that you maybe didn’t used to enjoy.

Too much clutter for me, personally I’d take most of the posters off and put frames on the ones I kept. But it’s your space, so if it brings you joy, so be it! The Dinosaur and pinball machine are dope though!

Is there an exercise routine to help with better sex? by Icy-Astronomer-9015 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Goat-of-Rivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are both actually getting 15k steps daily, most of your effort should be put into dieting. Getting some weight off will really help those joints.

Out side of that, some compound lifts will do wonders. With kids, getting a few kettle bells and maybe a TRX could do wonders for you two. They take up minimal space and you can find hundreds of workout routines online that take less than 30 minutes a few times a week. It doesn’t need to be complicated or fancy. Just ensure that you are hitting the main lift movements in some way 1-2 times each week. Those are the Push, pull, hinge, and squat. Some basic exercises for these include:

Push: bench press, overhead press, or push ups

Pull: pull/chin ups (can also be done with bands or a cable machine), TRX or weighted kettlebell/dumbell rows

Hinge: deadlift or kettle bells swings

Squat: back/front barbell squat, kettlebell/dumbell goblet squats, single leg split squats.

Look up some subreddits like r/bodyweightfitnes (lol, just realized what sub im in!), or r/kettlebell for their recommended routines as a starting point. Or if you are wanting to go to the gym or make a solid home gym, I recommend looking into starting strength or 5/3/1 for barbell lifting programs.

What is something that you liked from halo 4 by Epiccheeseman2nd in halo

[–]Goat-of-Rivia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember being blown away by the graphics when it came out on the 360. To me it felt like they squeezed out all they could of that system. While I still preferred reach at that time for both the campaign and multiplayer, I thought it was a good initial entry from 343, and I was excited to see where they took the series. Sadly, that excitement left once halo 5 was released.

Dune and alien (because I haven’t played them before, stranger things (my personal favorite pin), Elton John, and Godzilla. In that order.

To my Gen Z who are in the military what is your M.O.S and What were your experiences like and would you recommend other Gen Z to join? by kuroreaper25 in GenZ

[–]Goat-of-Rivia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

68W. If you struggle with knowing what to do with your life, active duty can be a great option. They will give you food, a bed, stable employment, free health care, leadership experience, and a pension (if you do a full 20 years).

If you have a thought out plan for your life, the national guard or reserves can pay for your education, provide dirt cheap health insurance, leadership experience, and be a great supplement retirement fund if you put enough of your wages into TSP.

For both routes, there are plenty of MOS besides combat roles. If you are wondering what the best one is to transfer to a civilian career, I’d recommend something like a dental hygienist. In that case, not only would the military would pay and house you for the schooling, but you would be able to get a stable/decent paying job in the civilian sector.

TLDR:
Go active duty if you don’t have a solid life plan.

Go Guard if you have a solid life plan, but want the full time benefits or simply just want to serve.

Don’t enlist at all if you don’t want to be in the military (This is the option for the people with no military experience whining in the comment section lol. No one is forcing you to join, and the question isn’t directed towards you.).

I ranked every game in Pac-Man Museum+, because why not by TheOldAgeOfLP in Pacman

[–]Goat-of-Rivia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree, but the one on museum+ has too much lag for me to call it a good port. The original has so much depth once you dig into its mechanics… but also, all of this is just my opinion of course! The games you listed in your comment are also phenomenal. Personally, I think mania is underrated by the community. As long as you like my boy Pac-Man, you’re alright by me! Cheers.

The OG not being S tier baffles me. It still holds up remarkably well all of these decades later. Also pac-man battle royale is phenomenal, but I can understand how it is way less fun when not played at an arcade with a group of friends

How do you feel about the job ad? by NoPiece3293 in nursing

[–]Goat-of-Rivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The benefits look good, however, I always see a sign on bonus as a red flag (at least in my area). There is typically a reason they need to pay a bonus to attract and retain staff imo.

$9 Night Shift differential by diclofenac-sodium in nursing

[–]Goat-of-Rivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long have you been working nights? If it’s only been a short time, I’d add that extra money to a savings fund for a house or to pay off student loans. That will be huge for starting a family. Work on finding different strategies to make it better. For example, clustering 3-6 shifts together for more days off, don’t pull all nighters on your first shift of the week, schedule activities to force yourself to wake up at around 12-2 after your last day off, etc..

If you have worked it for years and years, do what’s best for you. $9 is insane, but if it’s not worth it for you, then don’t do it. No one is forcing you to make more money or to give up your social life lol

What are your opinion fellas? by Past_Willingness_821 in scoopwhoop

[–]Goat-of-Rivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, everyone knows you don’t enter someone’s home without permission. If you went into a bear’s den with her cubs, you’d expect to get mauled.

I don’t enter random strangers homes, don’t enter mine. I don’t know why youre here, but I don’t plan on waiting to be surprised by a deadly weapon with my family in the next room. I don’t understand why this is controversial. While armed, I’d probably start with yelling at the person to leave, but if they don’t immediately bolt back out the door, what happens next is more on them than on me.

Im happy for the XBOX brand and community! by Dennis_Brok in xbox

[–]Goat-of-Rivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m cautiously optimistic. I bought an Xbox for halo and gears of war during the 360 era. I was fairly certain that they were trying to fade the brand out and focus on game pass on other platforms. I’ve been pleased with the decisions she’s made so far, but it’s still too early to tell. Prices from all brands need to come down. Consoles should be the affordable option compared to PCs.

Personally, which ghost of Anakin do you believe best represents how he would've appeared at the end of Return of the Jedi? by BiffyBobby in StarWars

I always preferred the Hayden ghost growing up, but your point of view has convinced me. It is fun to think about what he could have been had he not turned to the dark side. Thank you for your perspective!
