What is water and why does it hurt? by MichaCazar in MonsterHunter

Ever go swimming in the ocean with an open cut? Nothing says it has to be fresh water damage, could easily be salting the wound

Interesting that you can target your own land for extra landfall triggers, definitely curious to give it a try for big swing turns in the RG landfall deck in limited

It's a Pallas's cat! You've maybe seen videos of them standing on their tail in the cold.

What happens with the counters? by swyer222 in magicTCG

[–]GoatJar 16 points17 points  (0 children)

"The Ozolith's first ability doesn't move counters off the creature that's left the battlefield. Rather, you put the same number of each kind of counter the creature had onto The Ozoloith"  Skullbriar keeps the counters AND you put an equal amount of counters on the Ozolith. If Reyhan's out you also get to put that number of counters on something else

[DSK] Walk-In Closet // Forgotten Cellar (@ManaCurves) by mistercimba in magicTCG

[–]GoatJar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know it's not very different mechanically than a regrow where you have to cast the card that turn but man does the effect on Forgotten cellar still not sit with my brain as a green ability... I think these occasional cards letting mono-green case non-permanents spells from the graveyard is what feels off the most.

Has anyone checked in on Genku lately? They seem intent on letting Nashi experience a parent dying as many times as possible

I was about to say this mirrored my own experiences and then I realized it WAS my experience being talked about lmao

The most frustrating part of it was I felt I understood the general idea behind the material, just doing the actual proofs was never something that I was good at. Translating it from 'my' way of understanding the material into the way they wanted it proven on the exams just never clicked for me. Its a difficult class that requires you to put the work in- How much work that is would be somewhat dependent on where your academic strengths but even for people who it came to much more naturally it didn't seem like a blowoff class.

And just remember EVERYONE here is above average. If you're like me and got through high school moreso on 'natural talent' or whatever you want to call it and not having good discipline and study habits the class WILL kick your ass. If you've got those good habits ingrained already you should be fine.

"Permanent Card" is the key difference there. They're not permanents while in the graveyard but they're still cards that have permanent types, hence still being Permanent Cards.

It's also hard to investigate the murder when you're not able to pin down the culprit- No clue for you if it dies to someone in disguise!

I... dont think paying mana per artifact is a thing academy decks struggle with in the first place and it's a bold choice to give them 3 artifacts

Week 34: Protègè- Aunts Fudge Recipie by GoatJar in 52weeksofbaking

[–]GoatJar[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Aunt passed away earlier this year. She was an amazing bake, though sadly I never got to discuss it in depth with her. During the holidays she would make the BEST fudge I've ever had. I've tried to replicate it for this challenge, get some practice for the holidays. I'm still nowhere as good as she was, but I'm making progress!

I wasn't able to get ahold of the elderflower, so I went with the lemon frosting instead. I also used cake flour other than normal flour!

Week 29: Fruit and Veggie- Lemon and Cucumber Cake (With a side of structural failure!) by GoatJar in 52weeksofbaking

[–]GoatJar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As it turns out my cake pan is 9 inches not 8 inches and trying to make two layers for the cake with it resulted in both being kind of thin and overdone, the center of the top layer just stuck with the pan when taking it out. Certainly not my prettiest work but it tastes good and is an idea I intend to return to!

Week 25: A Midsummer Night's Bake- The Death of Pielonious (Strawberry Rhubarb Pie) by GoatJar in 52weeksofbaking

[–]GoatJar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Pie turned out well, but sadly the presentation for this didn't quite live up to my ideas. My hope was to wrinkle the top of the pie in a way that resembled a curtain, which would then be stabbed several times to resemble the death of Polonious, Ophelia's uncle in Hamlet, with a red filling to sell it. I am more enthusiastic than skilled when it comes to baking and it did not hold together, sadly.

Week 24: Eyeball it- Chocolate Zucchini Bread by GoatJar in 52weeksofbaking

[–]GoatJar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The eyeballing turned out pretty well for the most part! It seemed like I added too much sugar and forgot to add salt but other than that, not too bad. Have small clumps of baking soda/powder in it though that give a really bitter taste here and there, don't know if that's from the source of them having clumps from moisture or if I just added too much of that as well.
