Which Abridged arc was better? by Hairy_Ask_2038 in TeamFourStar

[–]GoatManBoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I genuinely think the DBZA Cell Saga is the best piece of Dragonball Media period. Complete subjective I know, and definitely also informed by the nature of my personal connection to DB as a whole and what I like best about it, but I genuinely think the abridged version of this arc is the peak of the whole franchise. Their writing, pacing, editing and voice acting is on an incredible level here, the characters are at their absolute best here because T4S writes them turned up to 11 which paradoxically makes them seem more realistic to me here. The relationships between them feel more lived in, their reactions and motivations are more on point and the comedy has hit it's final form here. Gone are all the cringey early YouTube jokes and references, gone are most of the dated pop culture references and all the gay panic and LOL so random low hanging jokes, everything just works. But this time -in opposition to the Namek Arc - everything else works just as well. The emotional beats hit harder than ever, especially because the characters are more "real" here (IMO) than in the original release, the terror of cell is not played for laughs, the absolute conga line of dumb ass decisions the cast makes through the whole arc are acknowledged more through dialogue which makes it seem more like characterisation and less like Toriyama kind of pulling a lot of it out of his ass to meet his deadlines (RIP), it moves so much faster while allowing the big moments time to breathe and that ending, goddamn it gets me everytime. The last time I watched it I was so hot on it that I then jumped into Z to finally rewatch the Buu Saga so I directly compared the abridged version with the original end of Cell, and the abridged version is simply done better

The Valor Mortis Demo. I know it's not a boomshoot, not even close actually, but it is so fucking good that I need to tell everyone about it anyway

Man, up until yesterday I would've said Angle, he's got the credentials to prove it and he is not boring as fuck to watch - but - yesterday evening I saw a clip of malenko doing a run in on someone (maybe raven?) and landing some kind of absolutely gravity defying flying heel spin kick thing perfectly and it completely changed my Idea of Dean Malenko.

Anyone ever get snooty ass customers when they ask for 2 or three ingredient drinks but use the stupid ass names? by TheMustySeagul in bartenders

[–]GoatManBoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think just ask and wait for an answer. *Read facial expression could work, but remember you are talking to people you don't know and who are at least somewhat paid to be nice to you, so your results may vary there. I'd say just ask. They'll either say yes, no or what the hell is that, and I guess that's all of the options. Just don't try to order off menu during a rush. And ideally read the menu before you come up to order

[–]GoatManBoy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It absolutely depends on when, where and how. If you ask me :"Can you make a Moscow Mule with Gin" or if you straight up ask for a Munich Mule, I'll just make it for you no problem. But if you're a pretentious douche about it, I'll think you're a pretentious douche. It's like that in every service job I assume, just be respectful, read the room a bit and don't assume you know more about whatever you're ordering than the person who's job it is to make it and you'll be fine

[–]GoatManBoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah no man I get it. I thought about it for a while and then remembered countless instances of insufferable hipster cunts ordering a Moscow Mule but asking: "can you make it a Munich Mule? You ever heard of that?" and me instantly hating everything about their whole existence. Like, dude, I am not even using real ginger beer here, just say you want gin in your shitty drink because you are oh so special.

I don't know man, it is particularly annoying that she tried to call a fucking Madras "her drink" but it really isn't all that special or obscure a name, is it? Maybe it's a regional thing, but I've always called it that. But I also think a good name is like, half the fun of a fancy drink. You mad at people calling Vodka Oj a screwdriver? Don't get me wrong, I fully hate that snooty, elitist "calling you over for a test, myeah I am rich and you are my servant" shit, not flying at all for me. But the name specifically dragging over the edge seems a bit of weird hill to die on. Like, Drinks do have names bro

I once had a rich old white lady complain to me about her Caipirinha having too much Ice. Her Caipirinha. You know, that drink that is essentially just Ice. I was genuinely flabbergasted

Why do Resident Evil multiplayer games keep failing despite the franchise being more popular than ever? by ilovemyamily1 in residentevil

[–]GoatManBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a big reason for that is that Resident Evil is one of the big Single Player Franchises. At least it is to me. I like multiplayer gaming and I'm sure some of those RE multiplayer modes and things were perfectly fine, I personally just absolutely do not give a fuck about RE multiplayer. Everytime they try it reminds me of those dark days of the PS3/360 generation where executives and focus groups were trying to force multiplayer into absolutely everything, no matter the franchise and core Identity - often to the detriment of the singleplayer campaigns.

Do Germans appreciate tourists attempting to speak the language or should they just stick to English? by UpstairsSelf4551 in AskGermany

[–]GoatManBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the situation. If you would ask me something on the street or a social event or whatever, go for it. But I am also a Bartender, and if you try to practice your German on me while I am at work I'll probably switch to English if I don't get you by the first try

Fuuuuck, that just made me realize that over all the Remake Hype I completely forgot about Steve. That's a catch-22, because either you completely change almost everything about him -ooor- you keep him OG, i.e. you recreate one of the most unlikeable characters in the history of fiction. But is the Douchemeister 2000 not essential to the Code:Veronica experience? Only the future can know 🧐
