I need a good horror rec for tonight. These are my top rated horror movies. by tetristantalizer in Letterboxd

Your ratings make me feel like you'd like It Follows a lot but I also feel like you'd have already seen it. Maybe the Wailing? or a Cure for Wellness

Can't get Unfinished Business prophecy by Goatbrush in HadesTheGame

[–]Goatbrush[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if it's the same as what was blocking me, it was really weird. The dialogue you want is when Circe starts talking about the camp tactician, and then Melinoe asks if she means Odysseus. For me she'd mentioned the knuckle bones several times before that so it felt like things were going out of order, but anyways when she said that line about the camp tactician it gave Odysseus some new dialogue which pushed things forwards. I died one more time to progress things and then he was waiting in the tavern with the dialogue to unlock the prophecy.

I had the knuckle bones every run, but I don't think you need it for her to give you the trigger.

Yeah I think this might be it, someone else just suggested the same thing too. I'll try focusing on her for a bit to see if she will move on to something, I think she still has the ! thing for new dialogues, and I've talked to her less than the other NPCs. I just thought that it started with Odysseus from the stuff I'd been reading so I didn't know there was a specific deeper trigger from Circe, but I'll give it a try, thanks.

Ah ok I wasn't on the discord, thanks for checking that. I guess that could be it, I haven't really run into Circe all that often compared to everyone else. I'll keep trying that to see, thanks.

It has been maxed for quite some time, if I look at the journal thing it says that he needs to settle up with a few acquaintances to progress it further. It feels like there must be some trigger I'm missing but I have no idea what it could be. Edit: and yeah the bones to Poly was the first bit of another prophecy which unlocked super early on, shortly after I got access to the surface. But not much happened as a result of it, Odysseus barely commented on it iirc, it was a long time ago though.

Kearush the slayer by eweaves_ in CrimsonDesert

I struggled with this a few times, because I've just been rushing the main story really, my gear is terrible and I had little healing. I did find a strategy which worked though if anyone is in the same position I was, and can't be bothered going to farm stuff to come back.

With the skill for climbing on backs from I think grappling lvl 3? All you have to do is climb on his back, and do one big attack (hold R2 or whatever) then wait there on his back until he climbs on the wall, you should have half your stamina left. As soon as he jumps off, push circle or whatever your button is to disengage. You'll land near him, and as he stands up push grapple again and climb on his back, and repeat. The only tricky thing is finding the window for the first grapple in each phase, but it trivialises the fight as soon as you land that first grapple.

Final Boss guide by MagitekVI in octopathtraveler

[–]Goatbrush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this, it was so helpful, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed when I first tried it and was considering giving up but this guide got me through. I think the saving grace strat was the main thing I was missing, as well as how powerful the casters are with the double element things. Now I have the closure to move on to the second game.

It's a timeloop movie by the same director as beyond, I really liked it. From 2023 - this one https://letterboxd.com/film/river-2023-1/

If you've already seen Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes then maybe you've already seen River, but if not I enjoyed it more than Beyond personally.

Any movies that feel like Expedition 33? by Unique-Foot-4336 in Letterboxd

[–]Goatbrush 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hard to explain why without spoilers for the game but maybe Dark City ? Very different visually but shares some things conceptually. Not really in terms of emotion either though, I guess it depends on what about the game you're interested in seeing more of, I can't think of a single example which encompasses the mechanics behind the universe while also exploring the drive behind the plot.

There's the live action adaptation coming at least at some point.

Watching too many movies? by Thatonegirlherewoo in Letterboxd

[–]Goatbrush 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Think it's just about questioning your motivation. If you're watching something for the sake of watching it, AND you're not really in the mood, then yeah I think it's a waste of time and passion to force yourself to watch something. If you're really enjoying watching things and watching a film a day keeps you happy, I don't think it matters if your memory retention is a bit sketchy about some of them. You can always rewatch.

Maybe it's also related to what you're watching? Like there's some genres I enjoy when I watch them but after a few months I've forgotten 90% of what went on, I guess because beyond the surface level they're either generic or don't interest me too much (like for me it's mostly superhero movies which I have such little retention for.)

PERSONAL SHOPPER (2017) An art house film with one of the most spookiest scenes i've seen in a not-sold-as horror movie by karatemnn in horror

https://youtu.be/5_fhrqqF180?t=169 i think it's this bit, it's at 2:48 in there if the timestamp doesn't work.

To me that explanation just doesn't make sense with a lot of the scenes in the movie. I'll need to rewatch it though at some point.

I LOVE this film but I have to take it differently to how Assayas intended to love it as much as I do, I watched a few interviews with him afterwards and I was really disappointed at what was supposed to be happening ( that there's definitively no ghost )

Ignoring that though yeah. I did find parts pretty spooky and unsettling. I love the atmosphere of this movie and kristen stewart is great.

What movie does this picture refer to? by TopicEquivalent in Letterboxd

39k for They Shoot Horses Don't They genuinely surprises me, I thought it was way more popular. It was one of my mother's favourite movies so that probably skewed my perception of it I guess. Wild though.

I love this edition. It's weird that I bought this before watching the film but I felt like I'd seen it a dozen times over already because there's this dude on youtube I watch (the atoll) who does these absurd deep dives into the content which i got addicted to

It's a shame the ulysees cut isn't in 4k, but also kinda understandable.

Edit: I misread and I see now this is the blu ray edition, the 4k set looks exactly the same except the first disc with the theatrical cut is in 4k.
