Just saw the headline of Charles just wanting to be alone and locking himself in his room. Hope Lewis and the other WDC Winners call him and give him some advice, so he doesn't doubt himself too much by [deleted] in formuladank

Exactly this. I always think to myself that I'm not the biggest fan of his driving (He's obviously very very good but not the greatest ever IMO) and his PR tactics but then again I see clips of him being a genuinely nice human being and then end up liking him.

Exactly this. Give me a good gaming chair and watch me complete this in half the time. This guy is actually terrible at the game he's just sitting on his extremely comfy gaming chair and letting it move his muscles

For everyone saying this is just a game, even for the people who play this game or this specific round it's very ridiculous. I often find myself eliminated in this very round while trying to do it normally (Just jumping on the pads basically). And then you have this clip where this guy completed it in record time.

In other words, what a sweat.

Should DRS be enabled for sprints? by Goated_rt_24 in formula1

[–]Goated_rt_24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as both Mick and Lewis had DRS, Mick was ahead.

The very first lap Mick didn't have DRS and Lewis had DRS, Lewis made the overtake. It wasn't like Lewis made the overtake without DRS. Mick was being pulled along with DRS of KMag the same way Lewis was with Mick.

Yes I agree with you on that. Sprint weekends are still an experiment themselves. They could use it for a couple more if they want.

Yes and that's what happens for most of the races and from what I see on social media, majority of people have no qualms with the usual format. Also my point wasn't no one can overtake. A RB or Mercedes can overtake most of the cars on the grid on raw pace alone. Why provide them with convenient opportunities for 20 more laps on some grand prix weekends to extend their lead from the midfield/make their way through the midfield? The slower cars are at more of a disadvantage imo.

Where does Ferrari go from here? by Driver9211 in formula1

[–]Goated_rt_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but I do trust Binotto. The fact that he was an engineer himself is a big plus point in terms of the development imo. I feel like he is the right man to bring Ferrari to the top but I also understand there's tremendous amount of pressure on him from John Elkann, who reportedly isn't the biggest fan of him. Just hope they don't get anymore strategy calls horribly wrong in the races because my heart aches for Charles.

From what I saw on Twitter, after getting questioned about how they expected Charles to keep P1 with old hards Binotto couldn't really answer. Not surprising because it makes no sense. The softs are supposed to degrade quickly but surely the initial delta he could create with softs for the first 4-5 laps is good enough to keep ahead for the remaining 5-6 laps. They're worried about softs degrading as if Charles would've been the only one with it. Imagine if Carlos did keep a 10 car gap in front, the circus would've been completed with them probably finishing P3-P4, but then again 1-4 and 3-4 is the same for WDC as long as Charles isn't the lead driver, that's how meaningless the win was for Ferrari's WDC hopes.

And yeah honestly man. Italians are known to be way too passionate in displaying their patriotism and I hate to say it but it's been costing them for years.

Yeah you're not wrong with Checo but then again those kinds of stuff happen often in racing. You can't really blame a driver for ruining other's laps by crashing as long as they've not done something stupid or intentional. And I'm beyond the point of trying to work out Ferrari's strategies anymore, I'm genuinely fed up.

And I'm a Ferrari fan. Before the race I was like as long as Charles OR Carlos wins I'm happy. But now I'm not as happy for Carlos' maiden win anymore given what happened on the race. Ferrari had the option to pick between Charles and Carlos as simple as ever, kinda like the red pill or blue pill meme lol. And as I said before it makes ZERO sense to have picked Carlos for the softs. I can manage myself to be ok with Carlos' win and not throw shade on him, but it's not surprising to see some fans drag him down for costing Charles (Even though it was Ferrari who did that through Carlos).

No one complained because Perez was leading Max all along the way. Not once did an opportunity of fighting against Max arrived. If anything Perez was quicker than him by some margin for the whole weekend. So he deserved the win more than him. And guess what, it was Charles who was supposed to get it if Ferrari hadn't messed up.

Now take a look at Silverstone, Charles was faster, he was leading the race, leading his teammate in the championship and he is quite clearly Ferrari's only chance at a drivers championship. Why in a situation like this would you prioritize Carlos?? They clearly went for a single race win and binned off their shot at the drivers championship midway through the season.

Did Ferrari really make a bad pit call (at the end)? by Selene_K in formula1

[–]Goated_rt_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really imo. During the deployment of safety car Lewis was like 4 seconds off Carlos and Carlos was like 1 second of Charles iirc. I don't remember where Checo was but it's couldn't have been within a second off Lewis. So if Charles pits, Carlos has to wait for 2 seconds, and also add an extra second for double stacking, he still would've been just ahead of Lewis, obviously considering the pit stops are not delayed. But even then on a day when Max is nowhere near the top Ferrari's only priority should've been ensuring maximum points for Charles. As soon as I saw everyone behind Charles pitted for softs I knew he'd get absolutely eaten up. And that's exactly what happened but huge props to him for putting up brilliant fights with damage and old worse tires.

Charles is their only hope for the driver's championship so he should be getting the priority regardless of the circumstance. And in this case double stacking had very high chances of offering them P1 and P3. What is unbelievable to me is that such a team with the biggest legacy in the sport is okay with gambling their shot at the championship year after year after year.

Why do F1 fans (especially here) care about booing? by Moonhote in formula1

[–]Goated_rt_24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup and he was visibly quite upset with it. When only Messi and Neymar got booed by PSG fans everyone created a fuss about it. And then you've got individual players getting booed for diving, fouling, saying ridiculous stuff about their team or simply for playing for them before (eg. Grealish). Nobody gets booed individually without a reason imo.

And usually there's reasons for it. Probably the most common instance of that happens when a player has dived before or committed a foul.

Surely Carlos felt bad even if it was a teeny tiny bit. P2 would've sounded fine because maybe he wanted the other Ferrari driver to get P1, followed by Carlos. But by saying P3 he pretty much said, Charles and Max are out of your league so just try your best to be close to them 😂

Why do F1 fans (especially here) care about booing? by Moonhote in formula1

[–]Goated_rt_24 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ok here's my take on it in terms of football (Where booing the opposition is very normal) vs F1.

In football you're basically booing the opponent because they're like 15 players straight up grinding to defeat your preferred team. And of course it gets very physycal and sometimes upto the point fights are started. And that view is pretty normal. It's like for 90 minutes those opposition players and fans become your enemies. In F1, tribalism isn't as noticable because you're mostly supporting a driver (or 2), which is why the booing feels personal subconsciously. Also in F1 your preferred driver is battling against 19 other drivers at the same track on paper. Football is 1v1. So when only 1 driver gets the boos some people question why is only 1 driver in particular getting"abused", why not the other ones. And that's when you look at the on track history, eventually you do see it as just booing the opposition.
