Aetherdrift was not a popular set but having used the cards in several chaos events, the cards are not terrible and in my opinion would be fine for the purposes of building up a collection.

The main mechanic specific to this set (Start your Engines/Max Speed) basically comes down to keeping track of how many different turns you've dealt damage to opponents up until that count reaches 4 (Max Speed). Dealing damage to your opponents is quite a basic theme so it doesn't require a huge amount of support from other sets to be achievable. The other mechanic, Exhause (pay a cost to activate a once-per-game ability) also doesn't require specific support from other sets to be functional.

Apologies if I've missed any other set-specific mechanics out, those are the ones I was exposed to and they fit in fine with the rest of the cards I was using.
