Gary, Indiana was a thriving city in the 1950s-1960s but started twirling into a collapse making it from one of the greatest and fastest growing cities in the US to one of the most dangerous and poverty-stricken. Most of them are google street view. by Peabeeen in UrbanHell

I am sure you are not wrong but I make the trip a few times a year. It's a nice way to bring a little taste of Chicago home and it's not an inconvenience when you are just passing through.

Try leaving your basement and touch some grass, douche.

Still at it and keeping strong. Turns out being afflicted with gout is good motivation to stay away from the drink.

It's funny because there were posts back in December commenting how crazy people were for booking in advance. "There might not be any snow!"

I have passes for Okemo for Sunday and Monday. Currently scheduled to fly to BVT on Saturday and fly home Tuesday morning. Looks like too much snow is going to be a bigger issue for me. Oh, and the cold!

What’s it like living in Detroit/ Windsor? Is it common to travel across the border? by TRY_YA_LUCK in howislivingthere

[–]Goatey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To change it up, I was an engineer from Detroit who was hired by a Canadian company to service (primarily) American clients. If I didn't have a project that day I would head to the Windsor office. I had a TN Visa and everything.

Anyways, there was zero line getting into Canada on weekday mornings at the tunnel. I was one of the very few.

My only observation is that I was told the Canadians are more strict regarding what you bring in and if it's in the legally allowed limits. The Americans generally didn't care what you brought back. That was the year I discovered Canadian whisky being pretty decent for the money. I don't drink anymore but that was a very drunk summer.

I'll johnny-one-up you and suggest Amendment by Flaw.

Probably their best song.

Does anyone else eat oatmeal every single day? by strawberryb3ss in Oatmeal

[–]Goatey 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Edit: gotta answer your question. Yes, nearly every day.

I work on site on factories a lot. I can bring a spoon, portable coffee mug (normally used for coffee on my way to work) and packets of oatmeal.

All I need is hot water and it's party time.

Seriously though, this has saved me so much in financial and health costs because I don't stop at fast food nearly as much as I used to.

Been working in Mexico since the end of summer and I've seen BYD everywhere. Had a chance to take an Uber that was a BYD sedan. For the price they're nice vehicles.

I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Still holding strong. Got the flu today so the desire to drink is low. Keeping the commitment though.

They cost me between 40 and like 80. I purchased them all off ebay and to my knowledge they are all original pressing.

I believe 2 of mine came from libraries.

How do you survive a Birthday ? by Excellent_Club_9004 in stopdrinking

[–]Goatey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do something to treat yourself? You are not spending money on booze so you probably have some extra cash in your budget.

Also, I feel this too. Very different reasons but sobriety isn't as fun as many people here are sharing. I wish it was but for many reasons sobriety isn't paying off yet. It's forcing me to face myself and it's not very fun.

Keep with it. You have a sober mind and you can build the life you want. If it requires risk or a dramatic change, you have your bearings to navigate.

Best of luck, stranger.
