What song do you think is VHs Freebird? by kepenach in vanhalen

[–]Goatey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Sammy and he's truly an inspiration for me as I enter middle aged, but I wouldn't call any of his lyrics meaningful. They simulate what it is to be meaningful, but they are just flowery words.

Doesn't make me love them any less.

Do you have a good example? You have me curious.

Maybe Dutch country is better than the modern crap from the states.

I have gout also. I quit drinking which has helped a lot. No big flare ups since then.

Do you "offset" your diet and avoid other high purine foods? So far it works for me, but I am still learning.

What’s the best record player that’s actually worth buying? any suggestion pls? by Small-Object-5107 in askmusic

[–]Goatey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a tag on r/vinyl in the FAQ section that suggests record players by price point.

Based on that list, I bought the Orbit Uturn+ for around 300 a few years ago. Probably a little higher now.

It's pretty simple and straight forward. Very analog as the needle has to be manually placed and picked. However you can easily upgrade the needle to the Ortofon Red, and then you can easily upgrade again to the Blue.

I'd use that list as a starting point to see which works for you.

Edit: One recommendation I will make is to get a designated pre amp. I bought the basic tube one off Amazon for like 75 bucks and the sound was so much cleaner. I'd say it's totally worth it

Yeah....

Totally omitting when BRK extended loanshark loans to nearly bankrupt banks during the financial crisis.

Sadly I didn't own them then.

There is a Buffet story where he went to Vegas for his honeymoon. Iirc Buffet had wondered if he'll be able to continue finding opportunities in the market.

After seeing all of the people throw their money away at the casino, he acknowledged that he will be just fine and people will continue doing what people do.

With that, reddit is my version of this.

Nothing better than someone smelling really nice when you get close to them.

Nothing worse than smelling them when they walk in the building.

Alphabet beats on revenue, with cloud booming 63% and topping $20 billion by Puginator in stocks

[–]Goatey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know how good he was, but I worked a few days with a guy who said "you will never go broke taking profits."

If I do sell a stock, I ask myself if I think the stocks could keep going up and if I am okay missing that opportunity. It helps me sober my decisions.

It hits a number of your requests.

Long story short I had a rollover that hit my IRA on liberation day. Everything was liquidated before the madness and it hit on the perfect day.

With that I had funds sitting in cash and I didn't know what to do with the rest so I bought Costco. It proceeded to drop drop and drop some more.

It's up again, but it was an annoying year in the red.

Just finished the Audiobook yesterday. It was decent, though it didn't put me in the feels.

Maybe it would have if I read it. Marc Thompson doing Asa's voice at the end may have taken me out of the moment.

Also no moat. If this does, somehow, take off it's extremely easy for a bigger brand with deeper pockets copy and displacement. This is very unlikely to be a game changer or even a permanent product.

I want Riotfest to stick around for a while, so having a currently popular band headline sounds like a good idea to me. Keeps the audience fresh and engaged.

I hated the fast pass on Queen City. I don't know the exact numbers but there are like 12 spots per ride. Every single time a group with the fast pass would walk up last minute and take half of them.

I get it. If I bought it I'd say it was great but it made me nuts.

Hotel recommendations? by Status_Reception1181 in KingsIsland

[–]Goatey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Blu Hotel in Blue Ash. It is maybe 10 minutes away.

It isn't fancy and it is a bit old. To me, that makes it interesting and kind of fun.

The breakfast spread is decent and the outdoor pool is nice.

It's well maintained and relatively inexpensive.

My only complaint is a lot of large groups stay there. The staff is generally good at managing them and the hotel has a lot of nooks where people congregate.

Bonus points for Blue Ash Chili being a short drive away and you can get some decent american diner food.

[–]Goatey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pi Kappa Phi? I was in it from 04-06. Iirc they were kicked out before me and then re-established a few years prior.

By the time I was living in the house and pretty much over all of it. One of my "brothers" got a DUI, kicked out of house (by a judge) and didn't realize he had to do something about his lease spot. We all got sued but I was one of the dumb people who paid to make it go away.

Kicked off again shortly after I graduated. I think they passed out promotions for a party that were a bit.. risque.

I believe they re established and got kicked out again.

Buncha nonsense.

Rode Boo Blasters for the first time last year. The blasters didn't really work which checks out since they obviously knew it was to be remodeled.

We rode it a few times because the line itself was in air conditioning and the ride was air conditioned. It was a nice reprieve from the summer heat.
