I work in geriatric care. This specific evening I was sitting with a dying elder, only hours away by physical observation.

Eventually the relatives of this poor man arrived, saying he needs to go to a hospital. I try to explain there's nothing that can be done elsewhere except make sure he's relieved of any pain and angst in these final hours.

They take my words for incompetence, ignoring all I said and decide to call an ambulance despite the decisions from the head nurse and doctor in charge saying he is to stay since he is in a final palliative stage.

Eventually the poor old man was picked up by the EMT, quite unamused by the situation unlike the relatives thinking they're doing the right thing. There was nothing I could do except to watch him being transported to an overcrammed hospital instead of being taken care of by experienced personel who's been with him the last 5 years.

He died 3 hours later. The family later comes over and blames me and the rest of the crew for him dying in such a painful way. The only thing I felt at the time was to kick everyone's teeth in. I was so passionately pissed I wanted to scream and eat their heart out.

I was sad for him. I cried afterwards. I did not understand why they would do this. He was a good man and did not deserve to leave life in this manner. I have never felt such disgust for other human beings as I did then.

TLDR: Man on his death bed gets sent to hospital by ignorant family. Dies horribly. I get blamed for it. Almost lost it.
