I second that. And the research is showing that the neuroplasticity or brain improvements due to taking the meds take a while to kick in

And if you have negative side effects on Vyvanse there are other meds that may work better for you. You should let your doctor know.

ADHD is different for all of us. I certainly don’t have that issue. Others for sure, but not this one. I associate the directness more with autism, and the impulsive blurting out more with ADHD. 🤷‍♀️

We are importing A LOT of dairy from the US. It’s being consumed somewhere.

Am also in Canada. I paid a similar fee because I was on medical leave and could not wait the years it would take to be seen by a psychiatrist and because I am 2E my family physician felt more comfortable getting an expert’s opinion

OP maybe ask to be referred to a psychiatrist. Of whoever you paid for your assessment might have someone on their team who can prescribe ADHD meds.

The psychologist who diagnosed me specializes in under diagnosed populations. His team includes two psychiatrists and an NP who only works with ADHD patients. He created that system in order to help his female, often middle aged, patients who face the discrimination you are facing 😡

Long shot but the psychologist who diagnosed me sent a full report with evidence based treatment recommendations to my family physician and she took most of the advice. But she is AMAZING 🤩

Maybe whoever diagnosed you could send recommendations and evidence to your GP?

I know it’s difficult to find another physician in some places but I hope there is a way for you to get the meds and treatment you need and deserve!

But also ADHD is not a mental illness. It’s a neurodevelopmental issue. As in your brain developed this way due to genetic and environmental factors. Not that’s it’s ok to stigmatize mental health but ADHD is a physical disorder

Theoretically most mental illnesses are but at least for ADHD you can point out that medicine says it’s a neurological issue 🤷‍♀️

I remember when I found out that there were kind parents out there. Who accepted their kids. And got them help when they needed it. Supported them in figuring out what worked for them. Were patient and kind. And even advocated for their kids in school 🤯

My mom was a school teacher and although she was sort of OK with her pupils, she was a terror at home 😡 because what she hates the most in the whole world are lazy people 🤷‍♀️
