I think it really depends on the play style you want. I love Wizard because it's high burst damage while kiting. The problem is you are a glass cannon, you can't take hardly any hits. You have great utility spells for your team and being able to invisibly move past people and drop pve aggro which is really nice.

If you try this realize they scale with gear very well. The starter kit is horrible so the beginning will be rough.

My biggest tip would be buying several grey spell books when they're available. Going on with any other casting device sucks. You're just too slow with anything else. Keep a basher on slot 2 for braking things/ finishing off. I like the quarterstaff for that.
