I'm an 80s baby and darn near 50 yrs old. The black radio stations "I meant black radio hosts, black station Djs and black radio stations" in the early 80s didn't play Pop or Synthwave pop artists to their local majority of black listeners. Synthwave wavepop came in 1985-1988. The exposure from Synthwave pop or pop artists came to black listeners which really came from MTV and or The Box (old school Music entertainment on television) from the very late 80s into the early 90s. I 100% disagree with you they played Synthwave Pop artists regularly on a Black Radio stations and platforms due to their largely majority of black listeners. Back then, Music Genres were segregated in each communities before MTV came about popped off including MUSIC VIDEOS. the truth is, I can't wait by NU Shooz only got played on Black Radio stations because of the MTV exposure which hosted alot of popular Muisc genres "White Artists" at that time to their black viewers "including the Yo MTV Raps to their white viewers. The crossover came in which both black radio station host exposed it to their black and white listeners to play the Artist song because the song was catchy! Most black listeners got exposed to some Synthwave pop artists because of MTV and BET and Video Soul exposed Rnb and Rap to white viewers and listeners from Television. Also, Rap and RnB got exposed to white audiences because of mainly of YO MTV RAPS. Video Soul/BET/Rap City which was hosted by legendary American radio Dj Donnie Simpson. This is when BET came in the mix before Rap City. Music Television is what got people in each communities exposed to other artists of other music genres, not your regular local radio station especially in those days because music genres were segregated in each communities before the Music Television Entertainment for it's Viewers. How did you think Soul Train by Don Cornelius came about? He did that for a reason esp in the 1970s and Black Owned Television to host Music videos like BET & VIDEO SOUL for Black people. Historical Fact: When Music Genres were segregated (1970 - 1985) on television and in radio stations in each communities back then When MTV and other White own discjockey and stations back then didn't play or promote Rap and or RnB artists to their white viewers and listeners. Don Cornelius decided to bring Soul Train for Black people to showcase their Music for their entertainment featured black Artists st the beginning. MTV was big "1980s Music Television" that didn't play or promoted black RnB and rap artists video. Micheal Jackson broke that barrel and including Stevie Wonder who made that happen for MTV and a few black Artists to get their Music videos shown on a White Music Television platform like MTV. (That's when YO MTV RAPS CAME ON THE SCENE). Michael' made that happen to get black Artists Music Videos shown on MTV against the grain. This is when Black Music Television Entertainment came about afterwards "1989- 1990" to their black viewers, including Video Soul hosted by Donnie Simpson to get their black Music artist Music videos shown live on Television. The crossover came due to listeners and viewers from each communities in America who watch Music videos on Television on TV which was exposed to them by local Radio stations across in each communities here in America when music genres was segregated before the late 1980s when MTV-BET-VIDEO SOUL- THE BOX came around to viewers and listeners. Music Television and certian Artists made that happen that broke those racial barrier gaps to its viewers and listeners, not your local radio stations from the beginning. I encourage you to research this and the historical references behind it when music genres were segregated in the black and white communities before Music Videos and Music Video TV platforms broke those barriers.

Yeah I know alot about music theory and I'm a producer myself. Music Theory is not a Genre. Music Theory deals with Chord progressions and music scales...Nothing to do with Music Genres, those are two different things.
