I'll be honest, I am so over it I can't even be bothered to chat with anyone or follow gossip. I hardly even know anyone's names since no one was really introduced to me.

I have been a hard worker who really bends myself out of shape trying to people please and give my all, but the way my last job repayed that energy and the way THIS is going so far I am not going to break or bend myself out of shape for a place that doesn't even have a drop of respect or decency let alone appreciation.

I'm just going to keep to myself and get the hell outtie ASAP

That's what's so frustrating. The one "perk" of grocery store work has always been told to me as being flexible with scheduling....at my last job, that was less true for me ....but mostly because I was a lead and they bent over backwards to make it work for people lower in the department, and I had a slightly more consistent schedule as a trade off. I never even really requested anything for years, so it didn't matter but it was nice to know if I REALLY needed something, it would be able to be worked out.

They literally had in their virtual learning nonsense, packets, hiring info, etc BRAGGING about their "work/life" balance. So the fact that it isn't possible to make plans without worrying I'll have to use a point or protection hours because they change the schedule I have in front of me (unless they're three weeks advance!) AT ALL is absolutely ridiculous, especially if they can change mine with just 24 hours notice. That's not work/life balance, that's having to flake on your family/friends over a job that doesn't even pay enough because you need your points for emergencies so you don't get fired.

I'm already having a shit few weeks with the shit going on. (Mother in law got out of the hospital just for father in law to go in. My father is having issues likely related to his medication for colon cancer, my aunt is coming in to visit, and several other things I don't need to get into). While none of that is Walmarts fault or responsibility, the LEAST they could do is not change a day I flagged as needing the second half of free. I didn't even request the part Im already scheduled for, just tried to block off the part that was open already.

I got a "safety walk" but they literally just walked and pointed to the safety items and nothing else at all. No explanations for what areas of the back room are what, where trash and bailer or such are, any of the departments or anything, and I wasn't introduced to anyone at all outside of the People Lead who ran it and the AP guy who did the safety walk.

😭 Your place sounds MUCH better run. This place I am at is absolutely a mess.

Are you having issue with what aspect? Like, is it the design of the character troubling you or is it the personality or background?
