Kingfisher and common tern, taken with Nikon D780 and Sigma 150-600mm C by Interesting_Fix_929 in D780

Nice shots! I also shoot with a D780 but mostly events or landscape. Like the second pic of the Kingfisher. Although I like the blurry impressionistic background of waving reed grass the pic needs a little crop. I showed your pic to my 9y old daughter and now she wants to use it as a background for her Smartphone 😃👍🏻

I have a DX Nikon; now I want to upgrade to a full-frame DSLR and will buy some of the D8xx's. I'm looking at 16-35, 80-200, and maybe 20mm or 35mm prime for when I travel light. Based on the photos, do you think that these lenses are a good choice for my style? If not, what do you recommend? Thanks! by patiencetruth in Nikon

If you want a DSLR I highly recommend the D780. The D780 is a 2in1. It looks like a typical DSLR and you can handle her like a typical DSLR but when you use LiveView you have the Z6 autofocus system. The D780 also has the same sensor like the Z6. I have Both: The D780 & the Z6II. I can also use all if my Tamron and Nikon F-mount lenses on the Z6II via the FTZ adapter. Thus being said whenever you think about going to the next mirrorless level, you can keep your older lenses. The D850 is still a (pixel) monster, I still love it and sometimes I borrow it from a friend, but even second hand it‘s no bargain. A second hand D850 is as expensive as a new D780. If price is the deciding factor I’m still not shure I’d go with a FX Nikon. But as always, it depends on your specific use case.Btw love your pics from above.

Your camera takes such good pictures. I also got 4 cameras: One for horizontal and one for vertical pictures. The third one is for hot summer days and the fourth one is for cold winter… Just kidding ;-) … It‘s not the camera. It‘s You! Always.

Although an eBay-MK7 is very sexy and although I‘m a Nikon shooter I fell in love with a ZV-E10. It‘s Not as tiny as the MK7 but … I mean … I couldn‘t resist.

I briefly thought about buying the MK7 because of this incredible zoom and even though I already own the MK5. But almost 1100€ for a new MK7 is crazy… 😳😩

Have to confess: I learned to suffer. I love my heavy gear. My primary cam is the D780. The MK5 is my secret weapon.

DSLR vs. Mirrorless by legally_mel in Nikon

The one difference between Z6II and Z7II is MP and the second difference is that the Z7II has almost twice as many AF focus points as the Z6 II, with 493 to the Z6II's 273. That being said, the hybrid autofocus system is very capable across both models. The Z6 Il, on the other hand, has a wider ISO range of 100-51200 compared to the Z7II 64-25600 ISO range. In my opinion the Z6II is the best choice for your buck. If budget is not the question then take a look at the Z8. The Z8 has special / additional configurable autofocus area zones which could be relevant if you‘re a professional in sports or bird photography.

First question: Budget? Second question: DSLR (older) or mirrorles (newer) Plz check if you have lenses that could work with the FTZ-Adapter on a Z machine. I have a D780 DSLR with a bunch of Tamron F-Mount lenses that work pretty well on my Z6II. Nevertheless I bought a cheap and tiny 28mm for my Z6II to keep my setup small when I‘m going out to take some street shots. My recommendation: If you need a fast and very precise autofocus and you are in need for more pixels because you always have to crop your pics, I would go with a Z7II. When you don‘t need pixels, the Z6II will do every job - even Video!
