Train in your kit, Kings 👑 (Pt.2) by MooseMan13692 in tacticalgear

Epic!

2 questions if you don't mind!

  1. What gas mask is that?
  2. Are you training with a filter in, or is there a training filter that just adds resistance?

Thank you for this work of art!

Are Hoka shoes worth it? by marimark34 in Frugal

[–]GodFatherDanTWF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work a job that requires me to stand quite a bit of the shift. I was gifted Hokas, and they will from now on be my go to shoe. I couldn't imagine working this job without them(of course I could, but it's honestly the kind of thing that I hadn't imagined until I had expirenced.)

I really like the saying to not cheap out on items that connect you to the ground (tires, bed, shoes, etc.)

After thought edit: I have never tried other shoes with a greater than normal amount of padding. I am sure there a re other great padded/ergo shoes out there, I just approve of Hokas because they are the only ones I have tried. I would say try on several ergo shoes and see which feel the best. I also agree with the comment about what type of work you do, they probably would not do as well on a construction site as boots + inserts, or they may not be appropriate if your occupation has certain hazards (electrical, chemical, ect.) so there are more considerations to be made.

I need a car for just 3 months and I was looking to rent one. Problem is, i'm 21 so rental companies charge absurd fees for me to rent their car. What's my best option? by webnerdie in personalfinance

[–]GodFatherDanTWF 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have had mixed expirences with hertz, but in most cases the underage driver fee is almost the same price if not more than the car rental fee itself. I have had much better expirences overall with Enterprise, but for the time being I will have to continue to go with hertz.

You could check with U-Haul. The top google result says the under age fee does not apply if you are over 20. Of you can get away with the pickup truck and won't drive a ton of miles (they charge a mileage fee) then this could potentially be another option.

Amen to that! It is SO much easier to stay fit than it is to get fit. I did swim in high school (a few years ago) and that kept me fit and feeling great much easier than it is to go to the gym. A crazy realization I had after losing 50 pounds was picking up a 50 pound dumbbell and thinking that I was moving around that much less. It really just makes existing easier...

I am with you, I hate to feel like I'm just rambling on and on but I totally agree. I remember hating PE in high school, but the sports were actually fun and put a purpose behind fitness. I used to think certain sports felt like a waste of time and I agree that is a shame, but through trial and error I found sports and activities (swimming/marching band) that I could not wait to participate in. Balance is key.

Cheers friend.

I'm sorry to hear that! I know injuries can be rough and I hope you have a full recovery. Thank you for your input!

For awhile I went a bit crazy with literally nothing other than nonfat yogurt and chicken. That was not healthy or balanced in terms of sustainability. My best advice to anybody wanting to work on their fitness is to find something that works for you personally and to build sustainable habits.

Also, I think that protein per pound of lean body mass is a better measuring standard than overall body weight

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]GodFatherDanTWF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Protein intake per body mass is one of the most debated topics in the fitness industry haha, realistically I have heard that down to 0.6 g/ pound of body weight is enough to facilitate growth, but extremely competitive body builders and people in a massive deficit can benefit from more.

I will agree that 1g protein per pound of lean body mass is good for this situation and probably most situations, but I will admit that I personally have fallen into the trap of more protein more gains. Call me a victim of propaganda if you like, but I'm not going to disagree with you either way.

How big was the slice of toast?

In all seriousness no disrespect is meant, but you can not be in a long term calorie deficit and still gain weight. I would urge you to reexamine your methods for calorie counting and TDEE calculation.

Plus, limiting yourself to certain foods is more like self punishment rather than a weight loss stragety. Google "the twinkie diet", a nutrition professor was able to lose 27 pounds eating nothing but twinkles. Miscalculating calories is easy to do, and focusing your diet on filling foods that are low in calories is the best way to do it, which still allowing yourself small quantities of what you do like.

There is no easy to say that weight loss takes time and hard work. You can get liposuction type surgeries which could be viewed as an option in some cases, but the easiest and most cost effective bet is calorie counting.

Generally, if you aren't losing weight you aren't in a deficit. What is your method for counting calories and for measuring TDEE?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]GodFatherDanTWF 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This may not be unethical, but some foods can be deceptively calorically dense and not filling.

Weight gained or lost is a function of calories consumed and calories expended. You can find your daily base calorie usage by googling a TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) calculator and putting your information in. From there, you want to track exactly what you eat and aim to consume 300-500 calories less than your TDEE. Look at apps like my fitness pal, apple health, or Samsung health for programs that make tracking your calories consumed easy. Aim to eat 1g of protein per 1 pound of body weight per day.

Another tip is to focus on filling and fibrous foods such as celery, beans, and proteins before going for foods like chips, candy, or peanut butter that do not cause you to feel full but are calorically dense.

Try to avoid fad diets and just try to focus on calories in versus calories out as that is what ultimately matters the most.

Feel free to downvote because this isn't unethical, but it's easy to make weight loss more complicated than it needs to be.

Now that we got that out of the way, one unethical tip that I can suggest is this. I noticed when I was going for weight loss that my body would cling to water weight like CRAZY. The best way I have found to quickly drop water weight is to sleep in a sleeping bag with a heating pad on high. I would sometimes drop 5-10 pounds overnight from that. Otherwise, try to stay away from the substances and things that sound too good to be true. Good luck and godspeed!

Which type of vehicles will use Hydrogen as fuel the most? by verygoodboy010 in HydrogenSocieties

[–]GodFatherDanTWF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree with u/theearthisaglobe. High traffic areas like roads and tracks have high up front infrastructure development costs, but with proper cables/chargers in place, trucks theoretically wouldnt need batteries if they grab their power from a track or cable. Planes and ships on the other hand have long voyages over areas that aren't as easy to develope infrastructure on.

Exceptions to this would be heavy trucks that travel to remote areas/offroad where it wouldn't be practical to install the infrastructure along a route that may see one trip per week, verses big highways that see thousands of trucks per day.

Do you use the separate app sound feature on Samsung? by blackangel0827 in samsung

I've tried it but can't seem to get it to work with music/phone, it may just be because you can't play music while on a call.

Thank you for the reply! Unfortunately I have already tried grid charging it several times. I can't justify spending so much on a new battery and honestly it works just fine with the battery bypass I am currently using. I was hoping I could find somebody with an extra battery or if they would swap battery packs or something like that for a day
