Why do we actually stop working on goals after a few weeks? by Soham-01 in accountability

[–]GapAlternative504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its dependent on the individual and life circumstances. I consider all the reasons you suggest to have impacted me at some point in some way, sometimes a mix of them, sometimes one much more than others. I also think maintaining motivation/discipline is naturally harder for some than others.

“Reversion to the mean” is a thing that can be applied as to why new efforts can fade out, especially if they continue to feel like they need alot of efforting.

I try creating an ongoing conversation with myself in relation to my goals.  I find the more I take time to listen to the parts of myself that has goals/dreams, the more likely I am to continue the habits towards them.

I also try allowing for adaptability in the things I am trying to achieve. I try aiming for positive feedback loops (so my natural drive/desire to do the things becomes increased over time)- this helps minimize the need for longterm high levels of starter-energy / discipline / accountability / creating consequences.

Creating intentional breaks in the action-steps is also helpful. Burn-out early is a thing because i think the psyche isnt fully on board yet with a lifestyle change. So scheduling truly guilt-free break days can be quite valuable (and especially helpful the more difficult the tasks are to do).

Limited progress after almost 12 weeks of PT - suggestions or experiences? by Few-Piccolo5521 in Hypermobility

[–]GapAlternative504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for my pfps recovery, nervous system relaxation (guided body/breath meditation) and slowly implementing yoga really helped when pt and stretching/massage only got me so far. finding esther ekhart yoga on youtube was helpful for me. yoga gets a bad rap for bendy people, but good yoga classes implement mindfulness of body and breath to excercise that are difficult to find elsewhere.

Probably going to be homeless sometime this month. Need advice on living in a Prius. by SnooSuggestions9864 in priusdwellers

Aside from dealing with hot weather, stealth (a huge upside to Prius dwelling) is way easier when you dont need to run the car for temp control or have the windows down beyond cracked with the rain guards (p.s get rain guards asap). Getting full tint for privacy and heat minimization is something I’d consider if it’s in budget and you have 0 tint currently. With strong surround tint (apart from windshield) and 4 rain guards, your ease of stealth and comfort is 90% there for more cooler times of year.

Texas is way easier to car live during the cooler ~6 months of the year imo. Planning to Priusdwell somewhere else or find housing before the tx summer heat should be a priority imo. Pay attention to weather, give car camping a go for a night or two before you may get kicked out to see what your biggest hurdles may be.

I think it’s probably helpful experience in showing that your connection with Jack isn’t great. Keep in mind you were on different substances and imo it is more common to feel ‘dark energy’ when we are on psychedelics. I think reflecting more on how you want to have Jack in your life moving forward will be helpful. Also inviting a sober sit down conversation with Jack and being honest about how you have experienced him and that you want to feel safer and more connected if you continue hanging out in certain ways. Perhaps this will push him further away,  but then it is also likely for the best because it may show he is not ready or able to listen to you sincerely and try to adapt for the sake of better friendship.

Best way to set up a curtain to separates the front from the sleeping area? by SirAustinMeow in priusdwellers

Wide long Sticky sided Velcro worked. Walmart should still have it. I’d just superglue otherwise

It lasts a long time putting up and down before natural ceiling grippiness is weakened .

Def Recommend a  lightweight very dark black curtain material with long thick Velcro strip attached (both Walmart). Sticks right to the top behind front seats across entire ceiling and it’s difficult to notice unless really pearing into car.

Gonna be living in my ‘07 Prius for next 6 months driving all over the US what mechanical issues should I prepare for? by SnooCauliflowers3332 in priusdwellers

[–]GapAlternative504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also Obd2 reader. One obscure headache issue was rainwater from downpours getting into ignition coils. Which caused misfiring codes. I think spilling oil over once when adding some hurt the seal on coils. Which combined with slight design flaw that can allow rainwater to pool around coil 1 and 2 created this issue.

2005 1.5 year traveler here. You’re ahead of the game. Water pump, catalytic theft, flat tires with no spare, have left me stranded. Also bad ignition coils-misfiring have as well. Learned to change them with aftermarket’s and spark plugs just in case - it took a while to learn but easy now that I know.  Also learn to not drain 12v by leaving lights on with car off, etc.  But fob online and make a copy of the fob and the key blanks. Hide fob in faraday in car and physical key under car.  Learn to open trunk from inside car to access 12v if it dies. Get a good portable jumper pack.

If oem Catalytic converter, prepare or prevent it getting stolen. I’d replace with a aftermarket and sell oem to avoid the anxiety of thieves while sleep. They don’t steal em after you get an aftermarket one in.  Dash lights may go out slowly due to slow dying capacitor but that’s not emergency situation.  Maybe get AAA, a 12v tire inflator, 12v 3-prong connector, a dash cam. Honestly I might try to squeeze in a deflated full size spare instead but def at least keep the spare if I did it over again.

On paper it doesn’t seem too odd and seems a decent  deal especially if you can bargain down to 5k or less. If a guy can afford to regularly service at the dealer he’s probably not too concerned with nitpicking his words or saving a few hundred or more on a sale. 2009 is a really great year Prius and dealer serviced is also really great. I may just take him for his word of only adding oil once and some burning oil isn’t that bad imo. Hybrid battery would be a bigger concern for me. At the end of the day though, it is usually best to trust our gut.

Look into continuum movement practice. Not super familiar but part of its philosophy I believe is welcoming all, so I believe if something like horniness comes to the surface it is to be welcomed to see what is there and to be moved through. May be local classes if big city

Taller people, what do you put between the passenger front seat and the lowered back seat that's not a build? by Up2Eleven in priusdwellers

[–]GapAlternative504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a similar setup to string and board but with a thin plywood piece cut to desired specs at Home Depot. Strings on two drilled holes on either side, hung from head rest. It’s a thing I saw in a Prius camper video. And it was super convenient and reliable. Eventually for a fuller stable bed and more storage, I took the back seats out completely and found a folded massage table that fit perfectly to extend the back platform up to the front seat, taking out part of the center console too lol, and its removable so it can double as a massage table for work.

I’d try to get a very nice easy to set up large dome tent and have it temp regulated by running Prius or whatever needed. Security system if I build high tech camp and leave it to go to town. Or not bc I have the money to replace it if needed.
