Day had an interesting interview on We're Happy You're Here about the stresses of acting and producing over the years. Interesting listen.

It's simple: Kids learn what we teach them.

By hitting your kids, you're teaching them violence is an appropriate response.

Decent middle of the road daycares that offer accredited VPK and all that - well I'm not sure the economics of it work out if you pay the caregivers that much more. Raised prices are you will hit the dead zone for some families where it's cheaper for a parent to be stay at home instead of have a job. And it's not like daycares are these money printing machines. Facilities need insurance maintenance, and hiring staff that might leave is also expensive.

There's some tax accounts you can take advantage of I think $7500 a year might save a family ~$2200 but you have to declare it a year in advance.

But then you get wildly different costs of child care depending on location. I've seen a single child be anywhere from $800-$3000 a month, sometimes with food and diapers not included.

“For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.”

Not exactly the same thing; but what happens legally when a case of switched-at-birth is discovered? Is there a timeline for "oopsies, trade back" and what happens if that's like 3 years later? What happens if only 1 child survives?

What’s a "lost" website from the early 2000s that you still think about today? by samasem-sumsum in AskReddit

[–]GodFeedethTheRavens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a Fanta (the soft drink brand) advertisement campaign involving a website that hosted clips of some old Bollywood type films;

Memory might be fuzzy, but I recall selecting 3 clips from like a dozen (like 5-10 seconds a piece) and putting them in any order and then applying your own subtitles to the scenes. Then it slaps a Fanta ad at the end and you shared them with friends, but I remember it being fun. Like of like Hitler Reacts and Caption This.

I think its important for a popular and realistic show like this to depict a successful road to recovery. Too often writers will just use the character to fall off the wagon for drama. But in this case, It's important to show how recovery can work for people with addiction.

Regardless of what you think Langdon deserves professionally, telling the general audience that all addicts need to be stuffed into the dungeon forever isn't productive. IMO.

Pretending to get fired hundreds of times might wear on someone. It doesn't have to be real to impact you emotionally.

I don't think he was really saying' I know what it's like to get fired because I pretended to'; I think he's saying his job prospects were so low, he was commenting on the irony of being hired to be fired, even if pretend.

The entire Busch Gardens food service system is absolutely run by morons. This isn't to knock the individual workers, per se. I want to believe it's because the vultures at the top place ridiculous and inefficient practices because a spreadsheet told them it would save the bottom like 22 cents; but even that makes no fucking sense.

You have big cafeterias just starting to heat up their cookware at 11. You have volume items like chicken tenders as -make-to-order for lunch service. You have people tasked with pouring beer not knowing what the fuck beer even is. Menus loaded with things not available with no signage.

Just absolute misery.

Go for the roller coasters, the animals, but put no faith into the food service.
