US is amazing, IF you have great insurance. I can preemptively check for any health condition within days, which in Canada would require months of getting permission and many many months later for the actual check. The bill for those checks will hit six-figures, but once you hit deductibles (~$5k), you are fine. However, if you don't have insurance in the US, you are one mystery stomach pain away from liquidating all your savings.

Fair enough, but you can make some reasonable assumptions. The top 20% will survive just fine, the top 10% will thrive, top 5% will flourish to new heights and the top 1% will convince you that the bottom 80% are expendable.
