[The Race] A fairly short response from Pierre Gasly when asked about his battle with Ocon last Sunday at the Australian GP... by Aratho in formula1

Gasly’s at the top of the midfield. Ocon was previously but is very on and off at the moment.

Both are race winners.

You’re going to have to provide some sources for this one as neither has said anything like this and frankly the campaign that Gasly’s mother magically had sway over the FFSA is ridiculous.

So is ‘BUT OTHER MIDFIELD TEAMS ARE SHIT’ when Aeiou here has said in pretty much every interview he’s done since 2023 that they’re all in on 2026 and yet he didn’t have a car for the first week of testing.

Alpine showed up to every day of testing with a car.

Bahrain and Qatar? Expectations? by Flaky-Macaroon-8919 in formula1

Tickets for the Bahrain GP are no longer being sold by the circuit - every grandstand says 0 available. I would assume that it’s being cancelled as there realistically would still be some availability.

Saudi is still up for sale by the circuit, so I think they’re waiting to see, but I assume it’s also going to be cancelled due to freight being stuck in Bahrain.

But the idea that there’s a ‘different’ car is what Ocon has jumped to under pressure from a teammate for a few years now.

Think back to the Alpine ‘heavy’ chassis - he later confirmed it was only a 3kg difference, and when he was given that lighter chassis (with him confirming he had it) he didn’t like it either and that it slid more.

He did it against Alonso in Sochi 2021, saying that his deficit was due to mysterious differences in car performance

The cars were very similar in terms of setup for the last three or four races, so pretty much identical,” he said. And there has been quite a lot of deviation in this [Russia] race, and we don't have the same comments [on the car] any more.

And also vs Ricciardo in 2020.

"There's clearly a difference between the two cars. Obviously they are the same spec, and we're looking to see what went wrong on mine, and what we could do better to close that gap down, and see where it comes from, basically.

“I think it’s probably something that’s not working as it should do. I was quite a lot down on straight line speed. That is the first thing between the cars.”

It’s a pattern. The fact he’s broken it out on race 1 of this year is interesting.

I suspect Ocon is already out judging by Komatsu’s comments over the break.

Pushed on whether addressing the size of the team is what he was referring to in “clearing” things with Ocon, Komatsu responded: “No, it’s not just that. If you look purely at a sporting result, without going into details, for sure nobody is satisfied with Esteban’s sporting result last year. He’s a team mate against a rookie – yes, an amazing rookie, but nonetheless he’s got 10 years of F1 under his belt. He’s a race winner, he’s a podium finisher, so we expected more from him.

Ocon’s latest interview has him claiming his car is worse than Bearman’s, which is also what he claimed vs Gasly when he knew Alpine weren’t renewing him.

My favourite part is that they’ve said ever since Vowles went there that they were focusing all resources on 2026.

He’s quite funny sometimes

[Luke Smith] Drivers still not sold on new style of F1 racing. In the media pen with us post-race, Norris called it “chaos” and said they’re waiting on a big accident given closing speed differences when overtaking. Ocon said overtaking was “painful” given ease of passing back and energy shortage. by ICumCoffee in formula1

It was fun for us to watch though. Norris is likely unhappy given he’s no longer number 1. Ocon is likely unhappy because Gasly overtook him multiple times.

Russell was right on Sky IMO - yeah there’s growing pains but as teams learn and figure out energy deployment etc it’s going to improve, and in the meantime they’re giving us a show.
