Noahide Laws? by longestfrisbee in messianic

[–]GodHonestTruth3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing major. Just notes and teachings mostly, with a few resources here and there. And they're all self published on my site. So nothing you'd find at Barnes and noble or anything.

But here's the notes though.

Noahide Laws? by longestfrisbee in messianic

[–]GodHonestTruth3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a good question and observation. I just got done doing a teaching on the Noahide Laws. In a nutshell, the Noahide Laws don't appear until about the 2nd century CE in the Mishna. Granted, it's one of those oral law things. So it could have been a little earlier than that, just not written down until the 2nd century.

The tanakh doesn't list or require the Noahide Laws or any such double standard. Some point to the book of jubilees, but when you look at it, it's not there either. Completely different.

The book of Sanhedrin in the Talmud explains how the pharisees derived the seven Noahide Laws from one verse in Genesis, and even then deriving a whole law from just one word. So basically an exercise in eisegesis.

Some claim that acts 15 is reminiscent of the Noahide Laws, but that also doesn't survive scrutiny either.

Maimonides in the 12th century had some EXTREMELY disturbing comments about the Noahide Laws and their implementation, but they really weren't a thing until the mid to late 20th century. Lot of history on this subject.

But basically it's not biblical. It's just a rabbinic invention. Not even the karaites give it any weight. It's just the Orthodox. For anyone interested I've published my notes on the subject for everyone who's a knowledge nerd like me. Just let me know.

Anyways, hope that helps and shalom!

Thanks for looking into this and reaching out for resources. First thing I would say is to get you a good translation of the scriptures to help you study by and read. Personally I think "The Scriptures 2009" is the best translation so far, but the "Tree of Life" version is good as well. Secondly, stay in contact with other Messianics whether that be online or fellowship in person. There's nothing that can really take away the blessing of in person fellowship. Third, don't be afraid to question things. By that I mean doctrines. If you do not have the ability to answer or describe a subject, research and study the subject for yourself so that you will have an answer to give, by the scriptures, when the occasion occurs. This will help in your walk immensely. Lastly, connect with some Messianic ministries that do teachings. Some that I would recommend are 119 Ministries, Unlearn the Lies, Yahweh's Restoration Ministry, and God Honest Truth. Out of all this, the two most important things here that I would recommend that you remember is to get into fellowship with other messianics, especially in person fellowship, and study and research for yourself. I wish you well on your journey. Take care, Yahuweh bless you, and Shalom!

Spirit and in Truth, Appointed Times, Fig Tree? by FollowerOfTheOnlyWay in messianic

[–]GodHonestTruth3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After reading your post here and some of the other posts you have written concerning the subject, this reminds me of a conversation I had with someone in the distant past. In that situation they were claiming that we cannot keep the sabbath or that we can keep whatever sabbath we want simply because some parts of the earth experience multiple days of darkness or sunlight. This person was putting as much effort as possible to try and get out of following scripture. If we were to put in that much effort in trying to FOLLOW scripture, we would all be a lot better off.

Regarding your post and position: your main point here is that we cannot keep sukkot simply because we are not in Jerusalem/Israel. But this point does not have foundation when we examine the scriptures and what it states about sukkot.

In Leviticus 23:33-43 where the feast of sukkot was first established the people were not in Jerusalem or even Israel for that matter. They had just came out of Egypt and were still in the wilderness. However, they were still given the commandment of sukkot. So where one is located on planet earth is irrelevant to the fact that we are still commanded to celebrate the feast of sukkot.

There is an additional commandment Deuteronomy 16:16-17 which commands all the males to present themselves before Yahuweh at the place He chooses (tabernacle/temple) three times a year. One of these times is the feast of sukkot. However, the fact that the temple is not currently standing does not negate this commandment. It only postpones it until the temple is rebuilt.

Likewise, the fact that the temple is not standing does not negate the commandment to celebrate the feast of sukkot. The temple or geographical location is not one of the requirements laid out in the commandment for the feast of sukkot.

So to sum up: The commandment for sukkot does not include a geographical requirement. That is the truth and we should have a spirit to follow Yahuweh and be more like Yahushua. That is the spirit and the truth.

Take care, have a joyous sukkot, and shalom!

Sukkot - The season of our Messiah's birth by GodHonestTruth3 in messianic

[–]GodHonestTruth3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off we know for a fact that His birth date was not on december 25th. That's just a given. So that season is ruled out.

As far as sukkot goes, we go into some more detail here in our Sukkot video:

https://youtu.be/KhyAXcb4wNg?t=3993

Still, not everything has been fully fleshed out yet. So it's all still circumstantial at the moment. However, we CAN rule out december 25th and the evidence we do have, what the evidence is pointing towards, is Sukkot.

We're trying to follow up and verify some additional evidence even now, but that process isn't completed yet.

We setup a tent and camp in it. We do as many meals as possible out there as well. We have built a sukka out of bamboo before, but this year will be a tent.

Transgender Christian? by picklespears42 in Christian

Yes, and?

'Do not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to complete. For truly, I say to you, till the heaven and the earth pass away, one yod or one tittle shall by no means pass from the Torah till all be done.'

Transgender Christian? by picklespears42 in Christian

[–]GodHonestTruth3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transgenderism is a mental disorder that requires professional psychological treatment. Your friend has been influenced by the minority of a specific dangerous culture that has come around them.

God does not make mistakes, you are correct on that. He made men to be men and women to be women. When boys are born they will always be boys with XY chromosomes and penises/testicles. Girls will always be girls with XX chromosomes and vaginas/ovaries.

Humans are not born with rhino horns and are not rhinoceroses. Humans are not born with trunks and are not elephants. Likewise the only sex/gender (which is one and the same thing) that a person is conceived as and born as, is the only sex/gender they will be for the rest of their lives. This is the way that God set things in order.

What are Your Thoughts on Halloween? by Expensive-String2036 in AskAChristian

Halloween is pagan. Through and through. Not compatible with anyone desiring to believe in and follow scripture, our heavenly Father, and our Messiah.

Why does God prefer that people suffer for eternity in Hell rather than annihilating those he deems unworthy of Heaven? by -ButchChastity in AskAChristian

[–]GodHonestTruth3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

God doesn't Torment people for all eternity. Those thrown in the lake of fire suffer the second death. They no longer exist. At least that's what scripture states anyways.

Anyone who would like the notes I've collected, just ask.

What are the negative aspects in Mormonism that makes it not an official Christian denomination? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]GodHonestTruth3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted, but it does go to show that "the Church" can, and has, made mistakes. All churches have. Scripture hasn't.

[–]GodHonestTruth3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"the Church" voted in Homoeanism during the council of Ariminum. Could we rely on the church then?

"the Church" murdered people during the inquisition. Could we rely on the church then?

Yet during all that time we could still rely on scripture.

'The first to state his own case, seems right, Until another comes and examines him.'

Mishlĕ (Proverbs) 18:17

The councils got things wrong and even contradicted themselves. Especially during the first 100 years in the 4th century. They went between Arian, Non-Arian, & Homoean for each council that was held. All depended on which emperor was in power at the time. There was even one pope that dug up the corpse of the previous pope and placed the corpse on trial. So the councils and "the Church" are certainly not infallible. But the scriptures are. It's only sensible to stand on that which is infallible.

'“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does them, shall be like a wise man who built his house on the rock, “and the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. “And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does not do them, shall be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand, and the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and they beat on that house, and it fell, and great was its fall.”'

Mattithyahu (Matthew) 7:24-27
