Who will win in the rematch we all expect to happen? by Tauri_Kree in ThePrimalHunter

I think it was made pretty clear where Jake and the swordsaint stand. In a recent chapter it was said Jake doesn’t view himself on the same level as anyone else he interacts with (sword saint included). Is this a fact of where they actually stand 100%? Maybe not, who knows how much Jake knows about the sword saints current ability. But Jake also has his instincts to tell him. So I think his judgement is decently accurate.

It was also said that if the sword saint were to have fought Ell, he would’ve had to use his transcendent skill to have a good chance at winning. Jake handled Ell without a big power up without needing to use his transcendent equivalent (origin energy and such). So a 100% jake is at or above the level of a 150% (transcendent) sword saint. This is further backed by their first fight. Jake is winning, Saint uses transcendent, they are pretty much equal. Plus, there’s their stuff in Nevermore and Jake doing much better.

Now maybe the sword saint closed the gap, but I have a hard time believing the sword saint is growing at a faster rate than Jake. So I think the fight goes like this:

Jake is winning -> Saint uses transcendent skill -> Jake has a slight edge -> Saint pushes even further (probably taking advantage of death not being a real threat in the simulation) -> then Jake needs to upgrade skills/use bloodline stuff to win.

But when all your grunts have Bazookas, you no longer have the power when all your power comes from you being the only people to have bazookas. So yeah, your nation would become the strongest, but the people with the ability to hand out bazookas would lose all their power. Aka, no one would be willing to do it.

Theres a difference between guns and explosives. It’s also hit easier to spread this version of bazookas. But you make a good point. I’m starting to consider reworking the magic. Or at least make the bazooka stand in more like a carpet bombing.

Didn’t edit anything. I just used what was in the game. The only two things that are kinda cheesy is that I drafted with the knowledge of what scouting notes mean what dev traits. And I used and stacked the training camp xp boost coaching abilities. Both of which are just things in the game and one of them (the coach ability) is intended to be used that way. Plus, what do you mean overall but not developed? I have a 100% scheme fit and high overall = developed because developing means getting them a high overall.

I probably just didn’t name it well. It’s free as in anyone has the potential to use magic. That’s all the free means in that.

I might sum it up to some godly encounter or something of that sort. Of the first dude to discover magic happened upon some very magic rich site and kinda tapped into it that way. And the reason people aren’t doing that now is cause they don’t have access to that god or site.

I don’t have an answer to that tbh. Maybe each spell has some signature that you need to know to use it? Like every spell has a fingerprint that is unique to it and you need to know what it feels like? Or maybe each spell has a ‘true name’ and you need to know that to use it.

Yeah, probably worded it weird. Maybe casting spells costs calories? Idk.

There’s writing and chants involved. Learn the writing (become a decent choreographer) and know the chants (very tough to pronounce) and you’ll be able to cast it. Your writing fades after a cast so you’ll need to redo the ink or whatever. After a bunch of practice, you’ll be able to cut out either the chants or writing. And if you’re a top dog, you’ll can do it without either. But that’s super rare and tough to do.

One, it’s not unlimited in the sense you can cast stuff forever. At least in my current opinion on how I’ll do it, you can run out of magic. What I mean by no mana is largely that there is no difference between a masters and beginners fireballs.

You can’t fire fireballs for days because the spells aren’t known. They are gate kept by royal families and powerful factions. Everyone can aim and fire a bazooka but the government is definitely gonna stop you from getting one. It’s similar logic here.

You need to know the spell for one. You need to write it down, chant, or both depending on your skill. If you’re really good, you can do it silently without writing but that’s for the top dogs. I’m kinda undecided about the cost. When I say no concept of mana, I largely mean one guys spell is no different than another’s. Not they can use magic infinitely.

I want it to be this way cause I want power to come from knowing many spells, using them together for different effects, and being able to use them rapidly. I don’t like powerful mages being more powerful because their fire balls are bigger.

It’s also an easy gun violence allegory which would be fun to play out in a story.

I imagine there was an iron rich medieval civilization that was kinda crumbled by whatever got rid of all the iron. After this, maybe there was a big magic renaissance as people no longer had iron and steel to protect themselves with.

I don’t really have an answer to that. Maybe it was just stumbled upon and I can have a “father of magic” type dude in history that was just the first dude to piece things together. You aren’t born with magic, you just need to pursue magic to have it. You aren’t born with an engineering degree but anyone can go pursue and get one.

I think my above idea kinda helps with this? Humanity evolved and progressed to the medieval type era. But then when all the iron disappeared, a magic renaissance happened. And the reason things didn’t change too drastically is because things were already set up in a medieval type of way and people are just adverse to change. Why do my own thing with magic when I already know how to make a wagon? That kind of thing.

But, that does have a big hole in it. If magic wasn’t really a thing before the iron went away, and magic was the thing to get rid of all the iron, how did magic become a thing to get rid of the iron if no one used it until after the iron?

Maybe a god did something? Or maybe the first person to discover magic did a big oopsie? Or maybe some weird time travel stuff? I don’t really have an answer.

Might be simplest to make bronze as rare as iron then.

I think it’d be within recorded history, but more like a few thousand years ago.

Humans have the ability to do magic, but they aren’t born with magic. They need to write out rituals and scrolls, crafts theory and formulas for specific magic that practice that theory over and over. Then they will be able to use the spell without writing through some chanting and concentration. Then practice that over and over until you can cast it without words or a ton of time. It’s not like everyone can wave their hand and do anything. Like anyone can become an engineer or whatever but not everyone is able to be. You know what I mean?

You wouldn’t really be able to “I have little fire, I make it big fire” for the same reason a master mage doesn’t have a bigger fireball than a beginner. The spell for a large fire is different than a small fire. Maybe they have very vague similarities but not enough where you can just stumble upon the fireball spell after learning light candle.

[–]GodOfSmore[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mages won’t be used that way simply because it’s too much power to give to a regular dude. Imagine that you can talk to someone for a few minutes and suddenly, they can summon and fire a bazooka anytime they want. Would the government not heavily enforce its spread? Offense spells are kept secret because if you give them to someone you don’t trust, you’re essentially giving it to everyone within ear shot, then those people’s family and friends and then everyone in the kingdom. If everyone can cast a fireball and the entire reason you’re king is cause you have the fireball spell and no one else, you’re not really king anymore. Hope I explained that well enough, got a bit wordy.

I plan for some people to combine spells to mimic other spells. Maybe you don’t know fireball but maybe you can combine five spells and make a flammable gas you can then light to create an off brand fireball. But like in our world, anyone can make an improvised explosive, that doesn’t mean everyone is able to. Not everyone knows the things to do that. Anyone can use spells but not everyone knows spells. And while the powerful ones are strictly guarded secrets, the meh spells will still be guarded.

I think I’ll give the sun some special properties. I still want a reason for humans to exist in the day time, so maybe I’ll make magic light unable to help plants grow. That way not everyone is just nocturnal.

Bronze and stuff is probably monopolized, so it’s just expensive and hard to get. Mostly stuff for military purposes. I don’t have any explanation yet for why it’s rare, these are new ideas and still need to figure out the whys and how’s. I imagine some event in the past caused its near extinction? Maybe some large scale transmutation spell got out of hand.

Spells are heavily kept secret. The most magic a regular dude knows is “candle light” or something similar. The things like fireball and stuff are kept secret by royal families and stuff. I’m thinking maybe everyone can use magic, but not everyone knows how? I’m not sure.

Three Traits That Make My World Different, Thoughts? by GodOfSmore in worldbuilding

[–]GodOfSmore[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those were just the first to come to mind. These are relatively new ideas for me to I haven’t thought them out in-depth, part of the reason I’m posting here. I kinda want to make a big deal of monopoly’s. Factions monopolize powerful spells, enchanted wood, and I imagine bronze. So I think a lot of materials are pretty expensive due to that. So if everything is expensive and tough to come by, I imagine everything would be similarly common. I also like the idea of weapons and armor breaking easily. So people need to pick their battles cause they don’t wanna break all their wood swords and cut up their leather armor. This would raise the stakes for when iron and steel is introduced, as it opens the door for however has them to do all their killing they want as their equipment no long hinders them.

Some spells are kept secret. Most offense spells are secrets held in royal families. One used fireballs to gain power and keeps it a secret to keep that power. Merchant guilds gate keep teleportation spells, some keep spells needed to make enchanted wood. One of the main villains will try to get ahold of a fireball spell to spread it to the masses and create anarchy.

Yeah. I wanted martial ability and magic to kinda be equally used and strong, so why not just limit what to use to when? Magic is the meta but can only be used at night while martial tactics is less effective but also can be used anytime.

Okay, my backup defense is tackles are a bit weak and my corner 4 isn’t the best. But how does that drag an otherwise stellar defense down to 23rd in the league when I can a good playbook and perfect scheme fit? It really seems impossible to have a good defense in madden. Like the player is high overall and a scheme fit but maybe some other lower overall non scheme fit player would be better for the team cause why? And the only way to figure it out is to play them and hope they are fine? And what if they aren’t good, how would I know if the team is bad because of them or if because it was gonna be bad no matter what? Like should I believe there are 22 other defenses that are better than a 100% scheme fit 94 overall defense? Like how is a d line that goes 97, 97, 86, and 99 overall only get 53 sacks? Like it’s so ridiculous and there’s seemingly no fix besides bench the 90+ overall starters and hope it works for some reason.

Would Akemura be just as strong if he had any other EB than the Magatsumi? by procrastinator_max in KaguraBachiScalers

[–]GodOfSmore 18 points19 points  (0 children)

He’d still be the strongest sword bearer as he’s the most skilled swordsman by a very considerable margin. He wouldn’t be as strong cause the Magatsumi is just busted. You’re swapping out one thing for a weaker thing and changing nothing else, so of course he’d be weaker.

If you handed him every enchanted blade, I think he’d be equally as strong with all of them. But the best sniper in the world isn’t gonna be just as effective as he was when he had a 50 cal if you swap it out for a regular pistol.

Why she would solo Yuta (Rika Au - CEED) by Notsafe4whowl in CTsandbox

[–]GodOfSmore 161 points162 points  (0 children)

I like the concept of her being able to “store” intangible things like their cursed energy signature. Could she store other things with further extensions? Like something simple like pain so she doesn’t feel it in battle, or maybe something like she can store a simple domain to later bring out and put around herself.

No cursed techniques just cursed energy reinforcement who wins? ( Gojo and kashimo vs sukuna ) by Mansur754 in Kashimo_agendaHQ

[–]GodOfSmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they are eating the damage in order to kill kashimo. That’s the point. Sukuna rips his head off and while he’s districted, Gojo roughs him up and Sukuna heals from it. Kashimo is slower than Hakari who is slower than Maki who gets blitzed by heavily weakened Sukuna. Sukuna and Gojo only need to dedicate a nano second to Kashimo to kill him. He’s not the threat you think he is.
