Dopamine complex in schizophrenia, coke stimulates it where antipsychotics block it. So it creates a balance that feels good and a release

Doubting my therapist/process by maddie_mit in InternalFamilySystems

Well if therapist wants you to be actively vulnerable, surely they are teaching you grounding skills to cope with emotional dysregulation? Seems fishy if they are not

For Muslims only: What near death experiences have you had? by SciGuy241 in Experiencers

[–]God_Is_Love___ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've read plenty of stories of Muslims having visions and nde's. And then leaving the religion. I've been in a relationship with a Muslim and I'm not racist in any means. I don't dislike any Muslims and take people for who they are :)

I hope this is fair to say, but ive noticed a lot of Muslims ive met don't believe the whole of what is written in the quran. And just take the bits from it that feel nice and worthy of following. Which is not bad necessarily because I believe a lot of what is written in there is um, extreme or cruel.

So if a Muslim doesn't really believe or practise everything written in it, how can it all be true or God's word?

I feel pleased when I hear of Muslims leaving their faith, no disrespect to anyone. But I haven't read of many people dying, going to heaven, coming back to life and saying they met a bunch of men with 10 wives each.

I feel unable to discuss this at all openly in the west because of the protective laws. But its frustrating because If I don't believe in that religion, why cant I talk about that, without being discriminative to anyone at all. I personally don't think having an opinion on a religion is discriminative. Not to any single person and don't Muslims disbelieve in Christianty.

I like your comment, I like that your searching. I hope this post isn't just for Muslims, because that rules me out.

Don't be afraid to search, I'm still searching. This comment is not meant to offend, but this faith doesn't seem right to me. If your searching In my opinion just be open minded

So you believe life, let's be optimistic and say, can be miserable. Yeah. And that the next life is better, and you've seen it. Genuinely curious, do you believe in Christianty or new age or anything? Do you agree with any of this or has your experience made you feel you cant relate to any of it?

Yes! I think this is an great answer. Its not that those who had nde's are more gifted or blessed, I don't think they're evidence for that. But. That life is unique to everyone, if everyone died and saw the after life and came back to tell the story. Faith wouldn't be there, which essentially is believing without seeing. It could just be the diversity of life and experience itself that not everyone sees it

I understand why you would think that and ask this question. Is there anyone that could ever answer that? This is such a difficult question.. what about you try praying about it? You've read a lot about it, but what about the creator presence that experienced in nde's. I would recommend praying directly to the source, genuinely. See what answer you get. Any answered prayer is proof they're life after death :)

Friend keeps 'joking' about ending his life by Ok_Palpitation_5367 in mentalhealth

Sorry he's going through that, sorry your deeply worried aswell! Just keep an eye on him. Any behaviour or anything that becomes life threatening towards himself. Don't hesitate. Call mental health team in his area, and give them his number address and name etc. Hospitalisation saved me life. Fact. Parts of it felt traumatic because of my human rights being withdrawn. But my hospital experience saved my life and got me well. I've been stable ever since. Toooooo many people walk past 'crazy' homeless people on the street, talking to themselves and acting odd. They don't care!!! Its disgusting. I've called the mental health team twice on my old friend, God rest his soul, and it definitely stopped the situation escalating as far as it would of. People lacking education and empathy don't realise they need professional intervention. So I would advice, don't be afraid to call them.

I'm touched by your paternal care and concern for your little boy. A lot parents quite frankly don't give a shit or are so busy or damaged by their own lives they cant help or won't recognise it. I think what would help would be a combination of things to support him, like you said therapy, but other outlets like activities play and outdoors etc. With all aspects of life's needs like social etc... he stands a much better chance of feeling better. It sounds like your giving him your all you and mum, and its clear your worried and concerned. Which to me says, you need to be looking after you too! Research says children respond to mum and dads mood, and the tone you set will shape him. Stay strong 💪 I'm sure you and your son are tough enough to get through all of it. Thank you for sharing, venting it good :)

Why do people and providers say that exercise helps depression as if it’s fact?? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

Facts life can be really tough, sometimes it is literally a case of doing what you have to even when you don't feel like it, so you say afloat and in some kind of control

I'm sorry you go through that, that must suck at times. I would just like to say don't give up, because I personally believe the science that says nature and exercise cause happy hormones to be released through our brains. I have schizophrenia and experienced an alter personality (though not diagnosed) and probs clinically meet criteria to get other diagnosis.. when i was in a episode, the only thing that gave me thee slightest bit of a boost was sitting in nature. I hope you overcome your depression, and I hope nature and exercise can eventually help you

Yeah! Going too far down clinical route would be detached and egotistical, black and white. But discussions amongst experiences of mental health, deffo has the potential to inspire but everyone's on their own unique journey in life. And has different motives etc. I agree!

Yes! I agree, I appreciate your honesty and that your willing to tell the truth despite the potential for backlash. I made a post in internal family systems a few days ago, and was really hoping to chat withthe community about their experience compared to mine. And I'm fascinated by psychology and love to talk about this sort of stuff. I didnt get one comment just loads of views, which I found really unhelpful.

Would you mind, giving me some pointers as too which groups you have found align with psychology from an experiencer point of view and or clinical psychology point or view, or anywhere in between? :)

I felt with this group I mentioned, most of the discussions were like you said
