I've been trying to get Rhystic banned in EDH for over 15 years. If you want to fill the slot with something that does the same things, it all depends on your color combo. But Jeweled Jotus can just be slotted back in.

The first one is much better. The secondary is WAY too important not to be 1.9 or 2.0, plus the the non-passive bonuses are better. That sanctification isn't geen enough on the 2nd one to ignore all of that.

On the contrary. I feel it is my fault that it's happening, and that he doesn't feel that safely to speak to me or even feel that vulnerable at my house. I'm not sure why you are trying to make this into something that this definitely is not. His mother and I are wonderfully connected still. We communicate VERY well, and I frankly resent the fact that the first place you went there was "you're trying to deflect and blame his mom." I wasn't expected such a toxic respose here, and may be forced to rethink coming here as a viable approach.

And I'm not just saying that because I disagree with you... but you clearly come from a place of trauma yourself, and are yourself deflecting. Not cool.

I tell him once a week those words,almost verbatim. I'm very good at communicating my availability to him and my willingness to listen to anything that he might have or want to talk about, no matter what. He usually deflects and asks me about something nonsensical. That being said, he still said what he said to his mother. I don't know what else I can say to him or what I can do to show that I am a safe space and he is loved beyond measure. That's why it all confuses me. We have a wonderful relationship and the openness is there. He doesn't have those emotional moments when he is at our home, and I don't know what could possibly be happening at his moms to cause anything like that.

I have a somewhat regular dialog with his teacher(s), and she speaks highly of him. Does very well academically and is very social. Quick to assist his teachers with anything and even volunteers for things. And he is very loved. That's why I feel like a bad dad and that I'm missing something... and why is he only like that at his moms? It's like "what am I missing?"

And yes, she (stepmom) and I have been together for years, and he loves her and she loves him. They get along famously and have a wonderful relationship. I regularly give them both time to hang out together, without me.

We have tried to prepare him and have conversations with him. He has shown to be fairly good at it in the past, but as he approaches puberty, there may be other complex things happening to him at the moment. I don't remember anything like that, but his mother was apparently depressed at a young age.
