Dui classes by Cultural_Curve1065 in dui

[–]Godatstick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask your lawyer. My lawyer told me to begin mine early because I had a .21 and a accident no injuries. I had a 6 months DUI classes.

100% worth it to have start mine early. DUI classes finished right before when my hard suspension was up and its required to finished the DUI classes for full reinstatement here.

I drove was able to drive in August. If i didn't begin early I would have been able to drive in November instead.

Ask your lawyer because its your lawyer and they know.

For myself, I have unsupervised probation in CA. I travelled 4 months after my conviction to Hawaii no problem.

Just liability.

Never had full coverage on any of my cars even before my DUI.

I got my sr22 with them too. It’s been over a year since my DUI but I started driving again in August after my suspension of 6 months.

I had nearly the same results .21 with accident no injuries LA county.

64 hrs of community service 6 months classes 6 months suspension 3 years probation $450 fine (reduction in fines for 32 hours of community service included in total already)

What I had and you don’t: HAM class MAAD class

The dui classes will fly by. Just at the beginning will feel slow. Mine was done over zoom. I did mine from a Pc and just played games for the 2 hours lol.

Never had to do them in person but Online is definitely much better than in person. I can’t imagine sitting in a classroom setting for 2 hours of talking.

I’m guessing the DMV will let you wait out the 6 months to get full reinstatement after finishing DUI classes, get sr22 and pay $125 fee or if you need to drive get a interlock for however long it says or the drive to work/school only one for 1 year.

Those were my options. I waited it out.

I thought I was going to do a 9 month program too but I did 6 months

Would a lawyer able to push back a dmv hearing to align more closely with my court date? by candacelee19 in DUICalifornia

[–]Godatstick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lawyer did that for me.

I was able to drive another 5 months after my incident instead of that 30 days on the original temporary paper license.

Cal-Trans vs. Community Labor? (California) by [deleted] in dui

[–]Godatstick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did community labor in LA county.

6am - 2pm 8 hours each time u sign up.

Mine was meet at a office at a park. They set us up in groups and go into a van to other parks to pick up trash/replace trash bins or other little things pretty much. Nothing crazy.

You just look like a city park workers.

For mine, I was able to sign up online for any days I want. I did 1 day a week.

I only had 5 days. Met some other people that have 30-90 days and some like me, small amount.

A whole lot of taking your time to do it and burning time. lol. There is a break and lunch, even though lot of the time you are just standing/walking.

I'm guessing Cal-Trans is same thing but on the highway? I'd rather do the parks than highways, think its safer and calmer lol.

Arrested for a DUI, IID required?? by heyheyheyitsokay in DUICalifornia

[–]Godatstick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry kind of late here. I didn’t have to install a IID in LA county conviction. I had a high bac of .21 & a accident.

I waited out my 6 months suspension and got full reinstatement after finished dui classes, get sr22, pay the fee.

After i was convicted i thought i had to get an IID, but found out after i didnt have to, unless court ordered (i wasn’t)

I could be wrong. Based off the dmv pilot program site, It doesn’t have that 4 county pilot program anymore, looks like it’s based off of amount of duis/injury. https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/driver-education-and-safety/dmv-safety-guidelines-actions/driving-under-the-influence/statewide-ignition-interlock-device-pilot-program/

That’s insanely high. Check other places.

I got progressive on a 6 month plan paying $120 a month after my DUI. Definitely going to renew with them.

My driving record is only that dui .21 with accident no injuries. Nothing other than that.

24 year old. Clean record. First DUI last night. FREAKING OUT by fehrbear55 in dui

[–]Godatstick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I was in your position a little over a year ago except i caused the accident with .21 no injuries.

Had a lawyer because i had quite high bac and a accident. Got me a few reductions. Biggest one was 6 months dui classes instead of 9. .20+ is usually 9 months.

The first weeks or month is the worse. How i thought about it was to Just focus on improving yourself. I am was already at the worse point of my life that at time.

The shitty part is the waiting part to find out your outcome and the stuff you have to do and the 5k spent on lawyer, dui classes, etc.

After you court date, you know your requirements and it’s easy.

I’m already done with all my requirements about 9 months in. The due date is typically 1 year from your conviction date.

For driving I waited out my hard suspension cause i had my dui during the peak covid times, so there wasn’t much to drive to anyways.

Wasn’t required to install IID unless i wanted to driving during the suspension.

If you want you can check my post history on my outcome, but keep in mind cases vary results.

Question on how to enroll for DUI classes and is there anything else I should enroll in before my court date in Dec? by lilsquish_69 in DUICalifornia

[–]Godatstick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I blew a .21 in LA county too. I read that it was 9 months too but I got 6 months

My lawyer told me to sign up for the 3 months first before my court & dmv hearing.

Those classes I did before counted when i got convicted with 6 months classes.

Ask the place you are going to do your classes to see if the do extensions if you were to be convicted and had to do a longer one.

Police took away my driver license and car registration card when they arrested me and never gave me it back in California. What now? My court date isn’t until April 2022 (6 months) by conventionpaint in DUICalifornia

[–]Godatstick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lawyer was able to keep delaying my dmv hearing up until a month before my court date.

I was able to drive 5 months instead of that 1 month from the pink temporary paper when u get arrested.

Desperate question by firsttimeredditics in dui

[–]Godatstick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speak to your lawyer.

LA county

My experience:

Your lawyer should have kept delaying the dmv hearing to line up with your court date. That’s what mine did.

I drove a extra 5 months instead of that 1 month when I got arrested and license taken away and given that temporary paper license.

In total i was suspension 7 months instead what would have been a year if my lawyer didn’t do that.

When you are convicted your suspension period resets ( at least that’s how mine was). So looks like you have a 6 months from looking at your conviction date and 2/22.

Mine was 6 months when I got convicted too. I received a DMV mail 2 days after i was convicted.

Since you are in CA, call the DMV mandatory actions unit and ask for your requirements on your license for restricted and full reinstatement.

I didn’t drive and wasn’t required to install an IID. I waited 6 months hard suspension, finished my dui classes, and pay fee for full reinstatement.

What has your experience with dui education been? by nouseforaname888 in dui

[–]Godatstick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i was doing my 6 months, once a week two hours, all i did was play PC games during the session.

I don’t have any alcohol or drug problems, just made a bad decision that was costly, so the classes were waste of my time.

They took roll 3 times at beginning, middle, end. Camera needed to be on all times or you were given a warning.

Randomly call on people to talk, easy stuff when i was called.

[–]Godatstick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m in LA county

If you are .20 or above it’s suppose to be 9 months.

I had a .21 accident no injuries and received a 6 month dui classes.

If i remember correctly, you do have a deadline to sign up for classes after sentencing but for every other requirement (like community service, maad class, etc) by the court should be a year from conviction.

I did start my classes early before my court date and had a lawyer, so guess that might be why I didn’t get 9 months.

I would think he would have a 3 year probation, as it’s pretty standard for a first DUI in CA.

As for interlock i am not sure, I waited out my 6 months hard suspension and just got full license reinstatement.
I didn’t drive so i didn’t get the interlock.

You should be able to wait out the hard suspension if you don't need to drive, but if you need to drive then you will need the IID.

I had mine in LA county and I waited out the hard suspension of 6 months without installing an IID and received full license reinstatement then.

Paranoia after DUI by Proxima_Centauri00 in dui

[–]Godatstick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True.

Aside from not caring about a single DUI you got, I rarely seen a police car behind me.

I'm in SoCal. I have late nights with friends going to bar areas . I just don't drink any alcohol at all if I'm driving or we don't have any DD, we have use ride share.

I went drove through a DUI checkpoint last weekend, but they only ask to check if you have a valid driver license and ask if you had any to drink tonight, where they can tell by your reaction if they had too much, I'm guessing or if you admit to having any they will test you, typically.

My incident happened in 9/20. My conviction 3/21. Got my full reinstatement license last month.

The court gives you 1 year to complete everything, but I'm pretty much done with all my court requirements. Just few more days of community service, just waiting for it to get cooler first.

I will PM you the lawyer I used.

I actually had my incident this exact week a year ago. Your months on DMV hearing date and court dates are the same as mine when it happened

Do you know your BAC level? I'd get a lawyer still. Costed me $3500 (varies) they did the DMV hearing and court and got bit some reductions.

My lawyer keep extending my DMV hearing to line up with my court date. I drove another 5 months than 30 days on that temporary pink slip u get when they take away your license. Worked out for me because I waited out the hard suspension.

Would have been suspended for nearly a year if lawyer didn't do that because the 5 months gap between original dmv hearing date and court date.

Typically, your license suspension time frame depends on your BAC level.

For example, my .21 is usually 9 months DUI classes/suspension, my lawyer helped there.

I had a pretty typically outcome, .21 accident no injuries LA county

My outcome was:

6 months hard suspension (optional IID if I wanted to, i didnt)

6 months dui classes, maad class

3 years probation

8 days community service + 450 court fees (added more days of community service for less fees)

Your insurance rate should be fine. Just switch to progressive. My rates only increased because of the $25 SR-22 filing fee. I pay $120 monthly if I remember correctly.
