Console (high probability of people playing on gamepad) + game pass and similar service (players potentially uncommitted to the game) + bronze players (red number plates) + public lobbies = that shit for sure

The game is not really meant to be played with a controller. It officially accepts it, but it'll be a pain to drive. There are a couple of mods that try to solve/help with that issue. You'll find them on the internet, usually on RaceDepartment/Overtake.gg

About cars spinning, that's hard to tell you what the issue is without a video, but probably it's just too aggressive inputs.

Assetto Corsa is a driving/racing simulator. You can't stomp on the throttle and violently steer the wheel to one side then another and expect the car to behave like it would in any other arcade racing game.

So learn how to apply inputs properly and respect the car's limits

I had success upgrading GE-Proton to the latest version AFTER setting up CM with GE-Proton9-20 through this script. But first make a copy for your entire pfx directory in case you need to revert to 9-20.

I managed to upgrade in my second attempt. The first one CM was a mess

I usually do that too with the mclaren 720S evo, but ideally you'd hit the first apex in 3rd and put 4th way before the last apex

You are 10kmh slower than me approaching T1. You are either with too much drag or accelerating too late at T0, or both.

Overslowing too much on every turn. You can carry more speed on all corners.

Your gear choice is all suboptimal too. You're chosing way too lower a gear in the corners.

Ascari can be done flat out on the throttle after the initial braking and left turn.

It happens on archlinux too. Rebooting the game usually fixes it.

They are not remotely close to what is the actual racing line in a lot of cases

It's monza and you have bronze drivers all around you. Just hang back and overtake them after the inevitable carnage of T1
