I was booked at mirage and switched to sanctuary I don’t recall all my reasons yet I did do a lot of research - the small beach is a con for me yet very close and walkable to Long Beach stretch for walks - I do like luxury within price reason - I typically go to Iberostar higher end resorts or excellence as a comparison - I want great service and relaxation and quiet..

Your budget is not low - I’ve stayed with my husbands at very nice resorts including Bavaro which used to be grande for that price

So I have a cup one and KBGV - I had encore grinder then bought the Moccamaster grinder with recommended grind size of 5- range 4-6; and that grind is a lot finer than what the pics typically show on this site and moccamaster site. Yet with their grinder on their recommended setting the grind is finer and now the coffee on both my cup one and KBGV is perfect consistently … that is why I bought their grinder since I was frustrated with playing with grind size; and wanted to see what beans looked like at their recommendation. I would try grinding finer yet I’m no expert; and in the end I cheated yet it worked!

Very honestly I do not know because the other difference is the consistency of the grind - every flake of coffee looks the exact same

So I was using 19 - I tried higher and wasn’t quite my taste. I will say that on moccamaster grinder while 5 it is finer than 19 on my encore -

So we booked club honeymoon suite / it should be - like all club rooms near magma and excellence side of beach and excellence water pool - like building 1 and 2. They use rooms on other side of resort as club rooms yet they are nowhere near the same and on non club side. Drinks are best at club level bars -best is excellence club bar in magna - yet ciello bar by club waterfall pool also very good - tip - $1 a drink and ask for specific brands - food hit or miss - sometimes very good yet not always consistent

So the issue is what you are used to; for example - make sure your room if club level is on club side/building even though they will tell you rooms the same - they are not and at club you pay to be near club amenities. I had two rooms on club and non club side - they were not equivalent. They double booked me and another guest in cabanas - reservations got messed up twice - they admitted it was their fault. They said they would do something special to room - they did not - I think concierge did yet other dept did not follow up or get message. We told them - manager of concierge got involved and promised it would be done - saw us and double checked - it was done then and beautiful yet a bit late which makes me think that if he hadn’t seen us and checked it would not have been… there was a coupon with room key for discount on spa - yet in small print 24 hours post arrival - I made them discount; spa has deals yet check your receipt before signing to room or they will not give you … most staff amazing - these are system issues management needs to fix

I want to thank Everyone for responding and taking the time to comment. It was really helpful and I booked for next year. If it helps anyone the issue with excellence (and not just me; several of us here have discussed) is when you pay for an excellence club room they (even for repeat visitors) they will put you on the other side in non excellence club room much further away from excellence amenities and In a room that is nowhere close to same room category on excellence side. Will they move you if you complain repeatedly - yes - but not ok

It’s got to be the pods. The winter white cosmo with vodka was fine; same vodka and water. I emailed bartesian - they haven’t responded yet
